Hoseok's POV -
"Do you want some hot chocolate?" I say quietly, stroking through Jungkook's hair. He's had a migraine all day and hasn't been able to join us in dance practice. I stayed behind to look after him, and luckily he slept through most of the day, but now it's time for all of us to sleep he's awake again, shivering in his dark room. He nods softly, then groans.
In the kitchen, Seokjin is making herbal tea for the rest of Bangtan. "How is he?" he asks, stirring softly.
"Doing a little better now that it's dark outside. He was dead asleep for most of the day, but now he's getting feverish."
"You think he's coming down with something?"
"No, he's always like this when he gets a migraine. I mean, he hasn't had many, but this is normal, I guess."
I start stirring the chocolate into the warm milk, waiting for all of the wet lumpy bits to melt down before I take it to him. Seokjin watches my hand, zoning out. Not many of us suffer with migraines, with Yoongi being the biggest victim, but it's been long over a year since he had one.
"He gets needy, doesn't he?" Seokjin asks as I tap off the spoon on the mug. I smile as a response. I mean, I know that Jungkook was asleep as I was trapped in his arms the entire afternoon. "Did anything else happen? Did he puke?"
"No. He really did just sleep. He's only been awake for ten minutes, but I don't think he's gonna sleep for the rest of the night. Right." I open the cabinet drawer and take out some of the stronger painkillers. They used to be kept in the bathroom with the rest of the meds, but when Yeontan came for a visit he managed to open the cabinet and chew through the box, though thankfully not ingesting any of the pills. I was going to put them back when Yeontan left, but I never really seemed to get around to it. "I shouldn't keep him waiting. I don't want him to get up and faint."
Seokjin laughs, as this is exactly what happens to him whenever he suffers a migraine. I smile too, although I didn't really mean it as a joke.
I turn off the hallway light before opening Jungkook's door, being as quiet as I can. I help him sit, and his body fits in against mine, his head resting softly onto my shoulder, his arms around my waist.
"Careful, it's hot," I say, gently lifting the mug to his lips. He sips it, licking the milk off of his lips, breathing in the thick scent, and gives a soft, almost content sigh. He finally stops shivering, and, when the hot chocolate has cooled down a little more, he drinks it steadily. I make him stop near the end so that he can take the medication.
Namjoon knocks softly on the door before opening it, being kind enough to keep the hallway light off, even though it means he can't see where he's going. "I'm the last one going to bed. Will you two be okay?"
"I'm gonna stay in with him tonight, in case he needs anything." Namjoon nods, and leaves, closing the door as quietly as he can after himself.
"I don't feel sleepy now."
"You need to, or your migraine won't go away, sweetheart. You're still a little feverish."
"I'm starting to feel a little better, it doesn't hurt so much now."
"Hmm ... you still need to get to sleep." I gently stroke through his hair, pushing his fringe off of his forehead. He is starting to feel a little cooler, but I feel him flinch a little if I pull at a tangle in his hair. We don't usually get super close to each other, but as soon as one of us gets sick, we get treated like babies, and I really love being the parent.
I help Jungkook get settled back into bed, plumping up his pillow and turning it over so it's cooler. Despite his earlier moaning, he lays down quietly, keeping his arms wrapped around me so that I lay down with him too. He rests his head against my chest, his hair tickling my neck, and gives another long sigh.
I kiss the top of his head, rubbing his back at the same time. "Goodnight, Jungkook."
He doesn't respond, slipping into sleep straight away, becoming heavier in my arms. His heavy breathing slowly turns into soft snores, but I can't quite get into sleep myself, my arm trapped under his is starting to go numb, but I daren't move him in case he wakes. I bury my nose into his hair, giving him soft kisses, thinking about how much I need to pee. As carefully as I can, I inch out from underneath him, making sure that no part of him moves too much to wake him, then slowly back out of the room, trying to ease the cramp in my neck. Jungkook stays sleeping, unaware that I'm no longer there. I tip toe into the bathroom.
Namjoon's POV -
I jolt awake to the sound of a blood curdling scream from Jungkook's room. I stumble out of my bed, tripping over the blanket, and run into Jungkook's room, snapping on the light without thinking. Hoseok isn't there.
Jungkook is thrashing around in his bed, shrieking, but still appearing asleep. His eyes are open a little.
"Jungkook?" I shout over him, gripping his shoulder. He doesn't shake me off, but he keeps thrashing on the bed. I don't think he can hear me. He's definitely still asleep.
Hoseok barges past me, scoops Jungkook up into his arms, and starts shushing him. He quickly realises that Jungkook isn't awake, and lowers him a little, looking down at his face in confusion. "W-Why is he screaming? Is he having a nightmare or something?"
The rest of Bangtan have now crowded into the room, blinking sleepily but looking confused, looking down at Hoseok and Jungkook, muttering.
"I think it's a night terror," I say gently, sitting next to Hobi hyung. I used to have them when I was much younger, and I didn't think that adults could have them, but my parents told me that this is exactly how I acted.
"What's that?"
"I ... don't really know. I don't ever remember having them, even when my parents came to get me."
Hoseok strokes his hands through the younger's hair, looking at his shaking body. "How do I make him stop? How do I calm him down?"
Jimin sighs softly. "It'll end soon. They only last a couple minutes. Then wake him up and see if he's alright." He pulls at Taehyung's arm. Let's go. Let's leave Hobi and Jungkook some peace. You know Jungkook doesn't like crowds."
Everyone else walks out. I stop by the door, my hand gently resting on the handle. "Will you be okay with him? Do you want me to stay?"
Hoseok nods, silent, holding back tears. I come and sit next to him again, gently rubbing Jungkook's thigh until he calms down. It's almost like nothing happened; he settles back into Hoseok's arms and sighs softly, still deep in sleep.
"I don't want to wake him," Hoseok whispers, looking down at Jungkook's now peaceful face. "Not when he's been feeling so poorly."
"Then don't. He probably won't have another now. He won't remember it happening at all."
Hoseok nods again, then settles back in properly next to Jungkook, still stroking his hair. "I'll call you if I need anything, yeah?"
I smile. "I'll be right there."
