Jungkook's POV -
I was diagnosed with asthma as a teenager, when I found I couldn't breathe whenever I went for a run. It started off as just feeling all tight, and I couldn't stop coughing. It was certainly irritating, but it wasn't something that played on my mind. Korea is a very dusty country in the summer, and the dust sticks to your throat.
It was only when I continued to ignore the symptoms, I got myself into trouble. It was a hot summer's day, and I'd just had an argument with my brother and my dad. I decided to go for a run to get myself to calm down, and I pushed myself harder than usual. I ignored the tightness in my chest, and I didn't stop running when I started to cough and wheeze. I felt like I couldn't breathe, but that's just how you normally feel when you go for a run. I thought nothing more of it.
My throat nearly closed completely. Before I knew it, my vision went black, and I collapsed to the ground mid-stride. I completely lost consciousness, though I still don't know whether it was because I couldn't breathe properly, or because I had hit my head.
Someone saw me collapse, and came to help me. At this point, I had completely stopped breathing, my body having given up on me. He was actually an off-duty police officer, who did CPR on me until the paramedics came. They managed to revive me, and I was taken into emergency care.
I was in a coma for just over a week. Well, they don't really call it a coma anymore. They said I was unconscious for 8 days. When the doctors asked me what happened, I told them I couldn't remember. It was the truth.
Had my throat not stayed closed up, then the doctors would have put it down to some random fainting episode, or maybe an unexplained seizure, but, when the paramedics told them they found it hard to intubate me, they started looking at breathing problems, or maybe some form of allergic reaction.
I told them I often got wheezy and tight-chested when I went out for runs. They wanted to start tests for asthma, since they said it was odd it had suddenly started for someone my age, but, when I got home, I got an invitation to join BigHit Entertainment, an idol trainee company. I accepted the offer, and I was moved off to Seoul before the testing could be done.
Obviously, PDnim didn't know I was having these health issues. If he did, then he probably wouldn't have accepted me. For a blissful few months, I trained with the boys around me, and watched as we all flourished. When I danced for hours on end, I would get wheezy, and had to stop to cough.
Hoseok knew immediately that I must have had some sort of breathing problem. He ratted me out to PDnim, and I was called into the office.
I opened up that I had just been in hospital having collapsed whilst running. I thought he was going to kick me out, but he told me I was the most talented out of everyone planning on joining BTS, and he really didn't want to let me go. Instead, he sent me off to a Seoul Hospital, where I started breathing tests, to see if I did have asthma or not.
It was a short diagnosis. It was asthma through and through. I was prescribed an inhaler, which, still to this day, clears my throat well. I haven't had any asthma attacks since that initial one, and it rarely plays on my mind. Most of the time, I don't even take it out with me when I go shopping, or something like that.
As I've gotten older, it's started to wear off. The symptoms rarely show in me, even if I dance or exercise for hours. Sometimes, you can hear me wheezing, but my chest feels fine, and I can breathe properly. I honestly just ignore it.
