Everything for nothing then, nothing for everything now
"When will you arrive?" this was the last text I sent to Hadley.
It's been 6 years then, when she suddenly replied to it saying, "Hi, how have you been?" I'll be arriving at the afternoon, today."
I wasn't asking for so much, what I wanted is already in the past, I'm done with all the waiting. I don't expect much from her.
Upon reading her reply, I quickly deleted it. I don't care much about it anymore. In fact I have a girlfriend now, and I'll be so glad to introduce her to the world.
Two days after the sudden text message was my date with my current girlfriend, Skye. We agreed to meet in front of the mall.
While I wait, Hadley suddenly appeared in front of me, it took me moments to process it, "Hi, Lawrence. Long time no see." she said.
"Ah, it really is a long time." I answered while nodding my head. it really has been a very long time.
"Why didn't you come to the airport? I waited there, you didn't even replied to my messages last time." she pouted as she hooked her hand in my arms.
Then, from my back, two arms reached out and chopped her clinging hands off me.
I heard a familiar voice from the back of my ears, "Who are you?" said my girlfriend, who took me by the hand and hanged her hand in my arm.
Hadley was speechless, dumbfounded if I had to describe in other terms.
"Lawrence, what's this?" she asked.
I sighed. It's not like she doesn't know I have a girlfriend. "Skye, it's Skye." skye said.
Hadley moved her eyes towards Skye without turning her head. "What about the sky?" she asked.
"My girlfriend's name. It's Skye." I said.
"Lawrence. What is this, what happened to you? Weren't you supposed to wait for me?" she babbled in tantrum.
More and more people looked at us. "Stop it, Hadley, it's not funny anymore." I said as I glared at her. "Why? Aren't you the one who cheated?"
I clenched my fists out of anger but Skye held my arm tight, making me calm in an instant. I breathe in and out and said, "You shouldn't have made me wait for 3 days and 3 night in that airport 6 years ago if you still wanted to be in my arms, I was like an idiot waiting for nothing."
"About that, you know there are various of reasons why I had to stay abroad, right?" she answered. No matter what reason she say, they seem to be muted from my point of view. "But, why didn't you go home or even eat when you were in the airport?"
"That's right, I didn't think of any of those. I realized later on that I was so stupid to not even think of those things. I was stupidly inlove with you, but you never appreciated it."
After a few moments of silence, I continued talking, "A guy? That's your reason, isn't it? You think I didn't know?" I said. She was shocked about it but gave her answer right away, "You misunderstood. It's not like that at all."
"Stop denying. You cheated and that's final!" Skye said, interrupting Hadley.
"Don't get involve, Skye. Let me handle this." I whispered.
"You know what? In love, you don't go giving and taking. What's there to do in love is to give and just wait." I stated, "But you gave so little and forced to take so much of my love. You left me in the air, have you forgot?"
"Lawrence, come on. Stop playing games with me." she said while reaching out for my hands. "I've already found my love, I gave her my love and she gave hers, which you never did. I'm satisfied, I'm happy. So please, don't appear in front of me ever again. I don't want my girlfriend to get the wrong idea."
Hadley didn't have anything else to reply to it. She said sorry and walked out silently.
"I'm sorry about that, Skye. You don't deserve to see this."
"You know what, I'd be happy to defend you again, if another chance arises. I want to do the same thing you did when my ex tried to take me away. It takes me back." she said.
I hugged her tight as she does the same thing. After that, she looked at me in the eyes and said, "I still remember how Jackson drugged and screwed me up. I'm still thankful to God I met you."
"You understood my situation and reached out for me, despite not knowing me back then. I was starving for three days, I didn't know what would happen if you didn't come and gave me food. I will always be in debt for that."
"Still, you accepted a filthy woman like me despite knowing the whole story, you accepted me when you deserved someone better." I bent my knees and leveled my head to hers, I smiled brightly and said, "Who would be better than the woman who saved my life?"
She smiled after she couldn't help it anymore. "Come here." I said as I open my arms for her.
Ahh, it's too good to be true, I love this girl, so very much.
