"Shikamaru? Why do you have a girl in your room?"

"Uhh she slept over.." his voice groggy and lazy.

"W-what do you mean she slept over?" You could hear the suspicion in her voice.

"Relax we just played shogi, and I slept in the living room," Shikamaru sighed his sentence cause his father to snicker.

"You had a girl over and slept in separate rooms? Geez how are you my son?" his father chuckled.

"Don't give him any ideas Shikaku!" his mother shot back.

"Oh come on don't forget what we used to do when your parents went out of town," his father smirked which made his wife blush and Shikamaru annoyed.

"I'm sorry for staying over without permission Mr. and Mrs. Nara," the Uchiha walked into the living room bowing her head in respect.

"Oh, it's [y/n]! I couldn't tell with the blankets covering you! It's just fine sweetie I thought he had some random girl over!" his mother smiled sweetly and his father had a proud grin on his face.

"Geez, mom who do you think I am?" Shikamaru mumbles rubbing his eyes.

"Please stay for breakfast!" His mother smiled sweetly.

"I would love to but I promised Naruto we would train and I'm running late," she gave the family a sorry smile.

"You and I both know Naruto isn't up right now," Shikamaru felt a bit jealous that she'd be spending time with him alone.

"You're right but I have to get ready and explain to Midori and Yamato where I was last night," she began to walk closer to the exit.

"Oh," Shikamaru was still resisting the urge to fall back to sleep.

"I'm very sorry again Mr. and Mrs. Nara, thank you for being so kind!" She bowed once more and scurried out the home.

"So you have competition?" His father rose an eyebrow looking back to his half-asleep son.

"Competition?" He mumbled pulling one eyelid open as he rested on the couch.

"Naruto, it seems she likes spending time with him when she's not with you," he pointed out but Shikamaru was starting to doze off again.

"Naruto? Competition as if," he yawned and closed his eye once more.

"He's too obsessed with Sakura, and even if Sakura wasn't in the picture he's too worried about Sasuke to get an actual girlfriend," Shikamaru chuckled at his sentence.

"So what's holding you back?"

"Women are a drag, I have to take them out, buy them things, and that's just too troublesome," his father's questioning was keeping him from sleeping so he got up and began to walk to his room.

"Quit lying to yourself, if [y/n] is such a drag you wouldn't have had her over last night,"

"Whatever." Shikamaru yawned as he walked into his room and shut his door.

He then threw himself on his bed and as he began to fall asleep the scent of [y/n] filled his nose. It was faint but he could still smell it, and an involuntary small smile appeared on his face.

"Oh no," his smile dropped and so did his heart.

Do I really like her?

What about Temari?

Do I still like her?

Are my feeling for [y/n] stronger than what they are for Temari?
