Shikamaru was sound asleep in his room once [y/n] realized she had to go back home for her turn to watch over Sasuke. She placed a small kiss on his forehead and creased his cheek before leaving. [y/n] then flickered her way into her home, where she found Yamato, Kakashi, and Midorima playing cards in the kitchen.

"I'm here," she announced, giving them a quick wave.

"Alright, kiddo," Yamato smiled as the to other males waved. Nonchalantly [y/n] made her way into Sasuke's room, where he lied bored out of his mind on the bed.

"Hey Sasuke, did you eat already?" she asked, her voice flowed gently from her mouth.

"N-No," he grumbled, his cheeks flushing red in embarrassment.

"Do you want me to cook something or get you something?" she asked, a chuckle left her lips.

"Miso soup with—" he began to request his meal.

"Tomatoes," she finished before he could.

"yes,"

"Would you like to, you know, hang out with the rest of us while I cook?" [y/n] felt guilty that he spent so much time alone cooped up in the room.

"No," Sasuke responded coldly.

"Ok, well, I'll bring it in when I'm done," she sighed and exited the room once more.

"So do you think you and Sasuke can handle Itachi," Yamato asked as he and the rest of the men sat at the kitchen table.

"It's risky! It's just you two against a shinobi that slaughtered his whole clan," Midorima spoke as well, as [y/n] carefully cooked Sasuke's meal.

"He slaughtered our whole clan, only Sasuke, and I can handle his assassination," she spoke bluntly, feeling irritated since the whole village has been doubting the last Uchiha survivors.

"What have you been doing to prepare?" the green-haired boy questioned.

"The Kato technique," her hands slowly cutting the tomatoes that Sasuke truly enjoyed.

"What?"

"Midori is helping me actually. She's teaching me how to sense chakra through smell," [y/n] quickly drizzled the vegetable into the miso soup.

"And how's that going? It's a tough technique!" his eyes widen in surprise.

"Good, I guess, it's not too hard focusing chakra onto my nasal cavity... I do have good chakra control," she smiled proudly.

"That's my girl!" Yamato grinned.

"You never cease to amaze me kiddo," Kakashi also added to [y/n]'s praise.

"So, who's the meal for ?" Midorima asked as he began to make his way towards her.

"Sasuke, he hasn't eaten anything," she replied while focusing her attention onto the boiling soup.

"Oh, I thought it was for your boyfriend," he leaned against the countertop.

"Oh no, I already had dinner with my boyfriend," she responded, her wooden spoon slowly stirred inside the pot.

"So, how is he treating you?"

"Very well, actually, he's amazing!"

"Hm, you didn't speak much about him when you were at my village," he raised an eyebrow while crossing his arms.

"Because that isn't any of your concern," she scoffed while walking past him to grab a few bowls.

She then began to serve Sasuke's meal. Suddenly feeling bothered by Midorima's presence.

"You know when you're done with him, I'll be here," he mentioned.

"Midorima, that's enough!" Yamato overheard their conversation.

"I'll be going with Sasuke," she swallowed her anger and took her cousin's meal in her hands. [y/n] quickly walked to Sasuke's room and sighed deeply once she got there.

"What's your problem?" he asked while receiving the food she kindly made for him.

"You say that instead of saying, thanks, cousin! You're the best! I'm so happy you made such a delicious meal for me!" she sarcastically smiled while taking a seat across from him on the bed.

"Why are you still here?" he cringed.

"Shikamaru is sleeping, and Naruto isn't here, so you're all I got," she mumbled tiredly. Sasuke was taken back, he could say the crudest things to her, yet she would still be kind to him.

"So whatcha think?" she asked as the ravened haired boy finally took a sip of his food. He then had the sudden urge to cry, as the flavor exploded in his mouth. Then memories of his childhood flooded. Her cooking reminded him of times he had treasured into his heart.

"It's okay," he whispered as he swallowed back his tears.

"That's good enough for me," she grinned, which made Sasuke accept [y/n] as his blood finally. He now remembered what family was because of her unconditional support. He knew that she would be by his side, and he didn't hate the thought anymore.
