"Is this close enough?" [y/n] asked as they were in Neji's viewing range of the training grounds.

"I can not believe I'm doing this," he sighed, shaking his head in disapproval.

"If you trust him so much, why do you need me to do this?" he continued while looking at the Uchiha's piercing eyes. [y/n] sighed while rubbing her face in confusion.

"God, I'm horrible," she mumbled while Neji watched her.

"So you're saying I shouldn't do it?" she asked, looking up at Neji.

"Yeah, you should trust Shikamaru if he wanted to be with Temari, he wouldn't have asked you to be his girlfriend," Neji reasoned.

"Well, I-I just I-I don't know how I should feel about him being with another girl!" she confessed her cheeks heating up in embarrassment.

"Well you're with me right now, and Shikamaru doesn't know,"

"Yeah, but he forced me to make friends, and he didn't say I couldn't make guy friends," [y/n] spoke in a matter a of fact tone.

"I feel like that goes without saying," Neji scoffed.

"So I'm just supposed to be friends with girls just because I have a boyfriend?" she looked at him angrily.

"Well yeah, I mean it's respectful to your significant other," they were both now starting to get into a heated argument.

"Well, none of the girls like me here anyways, so it's hard to even talk to them," [y/n] raised her voice.

"Lady Hinata is quite fond of you, but you of course, never give her the time of day," Neji confessed for his cousin.

"I... I didn't know that!"

"I suggest you talk to her, then if your task is to make friends," he had an uptight tone.

"Ok, well can you at least guide me to where she is right now?" [y/n] retorted.

As the pair talked Shikamaru and Temari were walking towards them, as soon as they turn the corner, they will see Neji and [y/n] arguing.

"You know for being as attractive as you are, you're kind of a douche bag," [y/n] remarked, causing Neji to laugh sarcastically.

"So you think I'm attractive?" he smirked while raising an eyebrow.

"Well yeah, I think you're attractive,"

Shikamaru turned the corner and was paralyzed with disbelief when he heard [y/n]'s comment.

"But you're an ass hat, and a cocky brat," [y/n] turned around deciding to leave the brunette alone, and once she met Shikamaru's eyes, she also stood still. Shikamaru then shook his head side to side, with a small smile on his face.

"And that girl right there is my girlfriend," Shikamaru pointed at [y/n] who had an innocent expression on her face.

"Hey Shika," said the Uchiha while walking closer to the pair in front of her.

"I-I'm T-Temari, from the sand n-nice to meet you," the blonde stuck her hand out respectfully, her heartbroken to see the girl who took Shikamaru away from her.

"[y/n] Uchiha, from the massacred Uchiha clan, the feeling is mutual," she embraced Temari's hand, who was surprised, by the way, she had introduced herself.

"It's usually the elephant in the room, I like to get it out the way when I meet someone new," Shikamaru sighed and facepalmed himself.

"I'd love to stay in chat, but Shika over here wanted to escort you around without me," [y/n] continued to ramble while slowly walking away, but before she could pass, Shikamaru stepped in front her.

"Be at my house at 7:30 this afternoon," Shikamaru didn't ask, he demanded. His attitude shifted after seeing Neji walk away.

"And why were you with Neji?" he asked in a whisper, making sure Temari couldn't hear.

"I'll explain later," [y/n] kissed his cheek and turned towards Temari.

"I hope my boyfriend isn't too troublesome," the Uchiha had a smirk on her face while waving goodbye. Temari waved back as well, knowing any chance she had with Shikamaru was long gone now.

"She looks like a hand full," Temari giggled as they watch [y/n] walk away.

"She's going through some changes right now," Shikamaru vaguely explained.

"So how long have you guys been together?" questioned Temari as they made their way to the training grounds.

"A few months, but she's been in my life for a while," Shikamaru smiled lightly while recalling the memories of his childhood.

"You never mentioned her last time we met," Temari mentioned looking at Shikamaru curiously.

"I didn't see the need to do so," he responded dryly.

"Well, you kinda led me on Shikamaru," Temari was hurt, she was extremely excited to see him for the next couple of weeks, and finding out he had a girlfriend truly bothered her.

"I...I didn't mean to. It's just when she came back from her training everything just started to fall in place,"

"I see," the blonde was fighting the urge to cry.

"I'm sorry," Shikamaru genuinely apologized.

"It's fine,"

"I-I think I'm just going back to the hotel, I-I'll check out the training grounds tomorrow," her eyes began to well up with tears.

"Are you sure?" Shikamaru asked, now realizing that Temari was on the verge of crying.

"Yes," and with that, she began to walk away.

"H-Hey Temari, I'm honestly sorry," Shikamaru grabbed her wrist, keeping from going any farther.

"You could have written to me!" Temari faced him once more.

"You could have told me you were no longer interested instead of letting me think I still had a chance," tears were now streaming down her cheeks.

"I-I know, I just didn't know how to tell you," Shikamaru still held her wrist.

" 'Hey Temari, go on and forget about me because I certainly forgot about you! I got myself a girlfriend now!' " she was angry, and Shikamaru began to feel even worse.

"Temari, I didn't think [y/n] coming bad would change my feelings for you," Shikamaru admitted pulling Temari closer to him.

"You have all the right to be mad at me. I'm so sorry," Shikamaru sighed, and Temari was confused with emotion. They had a few inches in between them, and the way Shikamaru was looking at her made her feel differently.

"Please don't let this get in the way of what you are here f—" out of pure emotion, Temari placed her lips on his. Shikamaru's eyes widen in shock and quickly pulled away.

"T-Temari—"

"That was my fault, I just, I don't know what came over me," she sighed while Shikamaru let's go of her hand.

"It's ok, let's just forget this day and start fresh as friends tomorrow," Shikamaru gave her a sorry smile.

[y/n] is going to kill me.

"Sounds good," she lied while finally walking away.

I LOVE SHIKATEMA but you know this Shikamaru x reader so i had to spice it up a bit!

i'm kind of a head with these chapters so i'll probably continue my usual uploading routine with this story!

the other ones not so much i'm a bit at a writers block with those but i'm trying!
