19th June, Wednesday
"The rate of people with an extraordinary ability has been climbing during the last month. More and more residents have discovered power and start showing them in public.
At the moment the government is working at some new laws and guidelines for ability users as well as for the safety of the population. It was discovered that the assault at the residential parish in the 3rd district last week, was the work of an ability user."(Y/N) sat in the living room on the couch, scrolling through his phone as he listened to the 8 p.m. news from the TV in front of him.
"Do you have any ability users in your school, (Y/N)?" his mother came back from the kitchen with a bowl full of strawberries, placing it on her lap as she sat down next to her son.
"No, I don't think so or at least nobody said so. Do you know anybody?" the (H/C) haired boy locked his phone while taking one of the berries, watching the TV show some new book from some famous author.
"Silvia has an ability, but I haven't seen her in years. She always showed it off as if it was some kind of trophy."
"Who is Silvia?"
"See, I haven't seen her for so long, you don't even know her. But do you know anybody else?"
(Y/N) had to think for a few seconds. Of course, he knew that Dazai had an ability, but was he allowed to tell that? Was he even allowed to know that?
"I don't think so...maybe." shrugging it off was the best he could think of right now. He didn't like lying, he didn't like lying to his mother, but it was better than telling something secret.
Soon his father joined the conversation as he had closed the shop earlier this day and (Y/N) was able to be a little bit more silent. He wasn't too bad at keeping secrets, but it wasn't always easy for him to hide something.
With the excuse that he would go to bed, the (E/C) went to his room as it was around 10 already. The last two horse they watched a short movie '(enter random title here)', a movie which they had already seen a thousand times but was as still good as it was at the first time.
Sitting in his night cloths snuggled under his blanket while looking at some random post, he was slowly getting tired. But his screen was too fascinating to let go. The famous line 'one last post before I turn it off' had been crossing his mind for at least 241 times already.
This time the phone was on his side. His thumb swiped up, but his feed got stuck.
"Oh, come on...I will go to sleep after this one...and buy a new phone next week..." he promised himself, but it didn't help.
Out of the sudden his phone started buzzing the screen changed into an incoming call of an unknow number. He had learned to pick up at times like this since it was often his boyfriend calling.
"That's better you Dazai because I haven't heard from you in two and a half week!" his voice was close to screaming, but the (H/C) haired male managed to keep it down, not knowing if his parents were around.
"Love you too, (Y/N) ~"
Letting out a sigh as (Y/N) body relaxed at the sound of the others voice, he sat up and leaned against the bed.
"Were have you been? I was worried the whole time! I didn't hear from you and you didn't tell me that you would be away for so long, again!" It was hard for the younger male to keep all his feelings and anger inside him.
"Just working a little bit more. I thought that you would like to congratulate me on my birthday, as I know you." Dazai's voice was as happy as a child which got told that they would go to the playground in a minute.
"Excuse me?" But it wasn't what (Y/N) wanted to hear from him. "You just called me after almost three weeks of not knowing if you are dead or alive and think that the most important thing to do now is congratulate you to your birthday? How full of yourself can you be! I was worried to death that something had happened, and I would never know!"
At this point he didn't care any longer if anybody could hear him. His emotions had been stuck with his secrets for too long now and had to get out. It wasn't right to scream at Dazai. He should be happy. But that simply wasn't the fault.
"How in the world should I be able to sing happy birthday to you as soon as I hear you again instead of questioning how you have been and if you are alright. You could be dead or in the hospital! I don't know! Because I can't contact you! No matter what will happen!"
Tears started forming and rolling down his cheeks. Not because he was sad. Because of anger.
It was silent for a while. The only thing that could be heard was the breath of the smaller male which he tried to get under his control again.
Nothing changed. There wasn't any sound coming from the others place.
"Dazai? Are you sti-" "And you think it is easy for me?" His voice was calm but clearly hurt.
"It isn't easy to stay away from someone you like, someone you love. But that's simply how it is. I am in here, in the Mafia network. Getting out is almost impossible. Nobody managed to live long after trying."
"It would be easier, it isn't impossi-" "And having secrets is hard. For both of us. I would like to tell you how my day was, what I have done at work today and then stay home with you in the evening, listening to your story. But it simply isn't possible."
The male stopped crying, his (E/C) eyes too dry and his thoughts too tangled for a single drop to fall.
And for the next few minutes they both stayed silent. The atmosphere feeling heavy.
It was almost as if it wasn't allowed to speak. Too much words had already slipped out of them.
Too much pain was given.
Taking a deep breath, the (H/C) haired raised his voice again. "It doesn't feel right. You know?
I just...I don't know...it is hard, but I am sure we can manage it.
Happy birthday, Dazai."
Now he was tired. All his energy was blow away, went through his mouth and left him.
"I love you, (Y/N)."
