"Julianne... Julianne, wake up... Julianne. Heeeeeey... Wake up.""Go awaaayy... It's too early for this."
"It's ten in the morning."
"Urghhh... I slept at three in the morning, go away... It's still early."
"You've had seven hours!"
"Give me seven more. Go awaaaay."
"JULIANNE! Berry Berry Pancakes for breakfast!" Tanner shouts into the room as I hear him and Samantha bolting down them.
I bolt up and you stare at me disbelievingly as you towers over me at the side of the bed.
"Berry Berry Pancakes!" I say in a very embarrassing zombie like voice.
"I-I can't believe I've been here for an-an hour and that's all I would've had to do..." You say staring at me again, disbelievingly, a child like pout on your lips that if I wasn't so busy hankering for pancakes I would be completely and utterly tempted to wipe off your face.
I push you aside, albeit very rudely, but your sputtering words weren't very related to pancakes so you would just have to excuse my reigning hunger.
"Pancakes!" I exclaim victoriously again (still with that zombie voice) and slip on my sweater running down the stairs.
As I get off the bottom step I finally hear you exclaim, "HEY! LEAVE ME SOME!"
I laugh and my feet start racing to the kitchen, "NOT A CHANCE MISTER CHANCE!" I shout upstairs.
I slam into my seat and grab my spoon and fork like in one of those cheesy pictures with those kids with lobster bibs ready for show time.
Aunt Lisa smiles sweetly at me handing me a large stack of pancakes and I start wolfing them down, knowing that everyone is doing the exact same thing. Aunt Lisa only makes her famous pancakes during Christmas and even then she only makes them once or twice during the month and the rest of the year we have to do without the amazing mouth watering pancakes.
"Slow down, Juli... Wouldn't want to have to rush you to the hospital for indigestion again would we?" Uncle Scott comments though I see some strawberry jam at the corner of his lips.
I blush at the memory and grin at imagining the doctor exclaiming at the insane amount of undigested pancakes that had occupied my stomach causing major traffic in digesting.
I keep scarfing down the pancakes though and at my third pancake you've already also bolted into your chair and are offered a plate of pancakes as well.
"I still can't believe that was all it took to wake you up... I TRIED EVERYTHING." You muttered bitterly.
"Less talk, more pancake." I murmur through a mouth full of pancake.
"Ugh." You say playing with your pancakes.
"Greyson Chance, that is an insult to the berry berry pancakes. Do not listen to him complain in front of you.. baby.." Tanner says once again scarfing more pancakes down his gob.
You bite into your first pancake and almost immediately your appetite comes alive again and you've joined us in the contest to see who throws up from too much pancakes first.
An hour and a half later we're all picking at our teeth, hands over our stomachs like we're all five six months pregnant.
"Now that was a workout."
"Okay kids... One last pancake, any more room in those giganturian stomachs of yours for this last one?"
All four of us reach out with our forks only crashing back into our chairs after failing and trying to reach the aforementioned pancake.
"Naaaaahh... Too full." Tanner mutters.
"Yeah... I haven't eaten this much since I first discovered the art of red velvet cakes." Samantha says.
"Urghhh.. Want but can't." I mumble.
This is how I am when I'm full... The less the words the better I feel.
"I'm gonna just-" You say reaching out for it but fall back short and give up, "Yeah, never mind."
"Okay then kids... This is gonna go to your dad then." She says and he shakes his head.
"I'm too stuffed too. Go ahead and enjoy it hun."
"But my diet-"
"Uh-uh. It's Christmas."
And that's all it took. Bye bye last berry berry pancake... See you next year. (TT_TT) [A/N < Sorry couldn't resist the emoticon.]
Tanner and Samantha have already crawled back to bed and we're both crashed on the couch eyes drooping in major need of a nap after all those sweet sweet cupcakes covered in berry syrup, cream cheese, and whip cream.
"So... Full." I mutter under my breath.
"You can say that again." You respond.
"Oh but I won't." I flash you a quick smile because that's all the strength I have left.
You reach out with a mischevous grin to tickle me but I guess that's all the strength you have left to and your head lands on my lap.
We start giggling and the next thing you know is we're already fast asleep dreaming of mountains and mountains of berry berry pancakes and an endless stomach.
~*~
"Wake up you two!"
"Ehhh... Seven more hours..." We both mutter.
