"So why we're you doing there anyway?" Brett asks.
We were in his car on the way home.
"My boyfriend."
"Your boyfriend is in college?" He questions. This is starting to feel like an interrogation.
"No. He tricked me."
"Are you okay? We have only talked in person one other time, but you were so talkative then. Now you are giving me one word answers."
"No, he lied to me and then just ditched me for his college buddies. And I can barely even see your face right now because he made me take my glasses off. And I have horrible vision and I don't even know why I agreed to come, I should be at home. And my glasses are in his car, dangit. And this isn't the first time he's done something to me like this. And I'm just not sure anymore," A little tear rolls down my cheek and I turn to face the window so he won't see my face.
"Well, from what I have heard he sounds like a real jerk."
I sigh, and wipe the tear away. I turn to face him again.
"Are we friends?" I ask.
"Uh, sure I guess. Why?"
His blue eyes light up as a car's headlights flood the front window. He turns to face me, his expression softening. Our eyes meet. For a second we just stay like that. He bites his bottom lip, and turns his attention back to the road. I quickly turn away, my cheeks heating up.
We are silent the rest of the way to my house. I don't reply to his question.
Instead, as he pulls up to my house, I turn to him and kiss him. My brain must be broken or something. I have a boyfriend. We may not have the best relationship right now, but he's still my boyfriend.
But it feels so nice to kiss someone else for a change.
At first he is surprised. But then he starts kissing me back. His lips are soft. I run my hand through his hair and pulls me closer, heating the kiss even more. We stay like that for what seems like hours. Long, sweet hours.
I only wish this could be real.
I pull away. I look into his eyes, they shine like ice.
"I-I have to go. Thanks for the ride,"
"Anytime, Casey," He says.
And I go inside feeling like a complete idiot, yet a little part of me wants some more.
....................
Sneaking past my parents was the easy part. Getting past Jake, my brother from Mars, is the hard part.
"So where we're you? Out with your boyfriend," Jake teases.
I push past him and enter my room.
"We're you safe? Did you do anything bad," He says, following me.
"Shut up, brat. Leave me alone."
"Casey? Are you okay? Normally you have a dumb comeback," He catches on.
"Yes, I'm fine," I lie, turning around and pushing him outside and locking the door behind him.
I pull out an extra pair of glasses and slide them on.
I peel myself out of my outfit and slide back into my pj's. I brush out my hair and rewash my face.
I can't get him off my mind. The way his lips feel, the way his lucid eyes light up, but mostly the way it felt strangely... well... right.
What have I gotten myself into?
And then I lay awake in my bed, pondering the consequences of the gigantic mistake I had just made.
