Chapter 26: We're Not Breaking Up

"This is your class of 2015!" The principals voice booms through the gym.

Caps fly up as seniors embrace each other, some crying, some cheering.

I smile a bit, and smooth down my dress a little.

I'm wearing a tight white dress, the sleeves are lace, and the back is low-cut. My long hair is straightened, and by the look of many envies senior girls I'm better dressed then them.

I serve punch and cake, with many other juniors including Daniel and Brooke.

"Here ya go." I say giving a tall jock a punch glass.

"Jenna Smith, I'm going to miss you. You know I always wanted to bang you." He says smirking.

"Your girlfriend would love to hear that." I say smiling a bit.

"Sh." He says putting a finger to his lip.

I serve cake and punch for about an hour, then I start to clean up. People linger around the gym as I clean up my table.

I join the after party in the grassy courtyard, it's the nicest part of our school. Flowers of many kind growing in bunches.

I meet Brooke and Daniel.

I knew I have to make up my mind with Daniel. It took me forever to make up my mind, but I realized I have to leave for a bit.

"Hi." I say kissing Daniel on the cheek.

Brooke looks at me urging me to tell Daniel what's going on. Daniel looks so innocent smiling, a joyful look etched on his face.

"Daniel, um. I uh am going away this summer." I say picking at my white nail polish.

"What?" Daniels mood changes after this sentence.

"I need to get away, it's been a dramatic year. I just need a vacation and I'll come back senior year refreshed." I say weakly smiling.

"I'll come with you!" Daniel says grabbing my hand, mines so small compared to his. They went together lovely though.

"Daniel, we need to just take a break. I still love you, but we just need to stay away for a bit. Brooke's taking me to California, we're just going to relax there."

My mom let me go if a)I'm back for wedding, and b)there's an adult on the trip. Brooke's roommate's eighteen so that counts I guess.

"I'll be back for June for my moms wedding. Oh your family's invited by the way!" I say changing the subject.

Daniel stays quite for awhile then speaks quietly.

"We'll give us a shot when you get back though, right?"

"Of course, I don't want to lose you again, I just need a break." I say taking Daniels hand in mine.

He kisses my lips gently.

I know it'll be the last one for awhile.

"Cali here we come!" Brooke yells outside my house as I struggle to bring my three bags with me.

We were staying for three months, so I need about everything.

"Shut up it's 4 am!" I whisper shout.

My mom laughs in her robe as she comes to give me one last hug.

"You girls be careful. Your moms going right?" My mom asks Brooke.

"Yes! For sure, we're meeting her at the airport, she needs her coffee." Brooke lies smiling.

My mom smiles and hugs Brooke.

"Good to see you back in town, your coming to the wedding right?"
