My blood almost seems to freeze in my veins. I could not move, every bone in my body felt like if I moved I would fall into pieces.
Kennedy had to be lying, she's not Brooke, she's a senior it's impossible.
"W-what?" Natalie stutters.
Kennedy takes off her glasses and tosses them aside, that's where the resemblance came.
"Yes I'm back, and I've been back for awhile. But the main problem is who rules our school. A fragile, decently looking girl! You've threatened and made Jenna's life hell, and I'm about to make yours hell." Kennedy, or Brooke threatens.
"That's-that's not possible." Natalie stutters again
"Step down." Brooke says.
Natalie steps off the table embarrassed.
"Now get out of this school before your every soul in this building hates you, oh wait they already do."
Natalie's face is heartbroken as she runs out of the cafeteria.
People whistle and cheer at Brooke's attitude, but I just walk out of the lunchroom.
Kennedy is definitely Brooke. I'm shocked that I didn't realize this sooner, she didn't look much different. I should've known something was up when she called me this past fall.
"Jenna!" Brooke calls after me.
I ignore her and walk down the halls. She catches up to me and grabs my arm.
"Why would you lie?" I ask.
"You hated me, you still do. I wanted to be your friend, but I knew nothing in the world would change your opinion on me. I didn't plan on telling you for awhile, but I had to get Natalie to leave you alone."
"Why'd you leave without telling me?" I simply ask.
Kennedy stays quiet for a bit, sighs, then starts talking.
"I got a modeling job there, they saw pictures I took with you when we did "photo shoots", I didn't want you to hate me, so I simply said it was my dads job. I knew you'd think I was leaving you for a stupid job, which I did, but it was my dream. I'm so sorry I regret everything, that's why I quit and came back."
I process this information, I know I should be mad, but Brooke looks so sincere and heart broken.
I even surprise myself by hugging her.
"We've got catching up to do." I say laughing.
"Yes we do!" Brooke says hugging me back.
"Oh and why are you a brunette?" I ask pulling away smiling.
"I dyed my hair. Some of the blondes showing through though." Brooke says pulling out a strand of her dark hair, she's right blonde is showing through.
"How'd you pull this off?"
"Hard work, and you being stupid helps too."
"Don't push your luck." I laugh.
She laughs too and hugs me again, for once things seemed almost perfect.

"Are you coming?" I ask Daniel as we all leave the school building.
"If you are." He says kissing my lips gently.
"I'll drive." Kennedy, no wait Brooke says.
The whole thing is still hard for me to take in.
Samantha and Brooke get in the car, while Daniel and I get in back of my black truck.
Brooke soon starts the car up and we're on the road. Since it's illegal to drive with someone in the trunk Daniel and I lay on our backs.
Daniel holds my hand and plays with my fingers, then brings up my hand kissing it gently. Like he did when he first met me, but back then I despised it.
"Should we take this slow?" Daniel whispers even though no one is listening.
"I don't know, I don't think I'm ready for a relationship."
"You've been through it all." He says smiling.
"So I guess that makes us friends." I say biting my lower lip.
"Best friends." He says turning towards me.
"Or friends with benefits." I say as his lips touch mine, they move slowly together. It's been too long without them on mine, and even though we should be taking a break everything just seems perfect.
"Let's just see where this goes." Daniel says pulling away smiling.
I smile back as we pull into the Sonic parking lot.
I hop out of the truck enjoying the beginning of Spring.
We all order our meal, and laugh talking about everything. We all plan for the summer to be unforgettable, but spending the whole summer with them scares me a bit. I just didn't want to ruin our perfect friendship right now.
When we get our drinks, Brooke pulls out vodka and passes it around. For some reason vodka disgusts me at this moment, so when Sam takes some and Daniel declines some I say no too.
Daniel smiles at me and kisses my cheek, his sweet lips on my skin gives me goosebumps.
We drive home when it turns dark, blaring the music, and singing along. By the time Brooke drops off Daniel and Sam I ask her the question that's been on mind this whole night.
"So is the vacation still on for the summer?" I ask sipping what's left of my grape drink.
"If you want too, I was thinking California you could meet my friends and we could stay at my apartment." Brooke says smiling joyfully.
"How long would it be?"
"For however long you want it to be."
"The whole summer?" I ask.
Brooke's smile grows as she squeals.
"Sure, but your moms wedding is in June so we'd have to go back then. We can go back to Cali though after that."
"Perfect! I'll ask my mom and get back to you!" I say hopping out of Brooke's truck.
