As soon as Hoseok had time to process the note, he was on his way to the student council room. He needed to find Seokjin, and he needed to talk to him now. He texted Taehyung and Jimin that something came up and he wouldn't be eating lunch with them. They seemed worried, but didn't ask what was going on.At most schools, the football players and cheerleaders were the popular kids. Here, at their high end private school, the student council members were at the top of the food chain. They were all smart and intimidating, and they were treated like royalty. Most of them would grow up to be successful business men/woman, or some sort of brain surgeon.
Hoseok couldn't believe he used to hang out with them. He was never actually apart of the student council, but he was treated like a member since he was always around Jin. The people on the council loved him, and for a while he considered joining, but then he and Jin went their separate ways and it didn't seem like such a great idea anymore.
So naturally, Hoseok was nervous when he got to the door. Every day the student council ate lunch together in their room. Actually, they were pretty much just always together in general, so Hoseok knew that trying to get Jin alone was going to be impossible. He would have to face them and hope for the best.
When he knocked on the door, a red-headed girl answered it, looking him up and down.
"Who are you?" she asked. She had that sort of tone that said "don't waste my time", and Hoseok definitely didn't plan on it.
"I need to talk to Seokjin," he said, "just for five minutes, if that's okay." When he looked inside, he could see him sitting next to Namjoon and Yoongi, laughing over something that was apparently very funny. There was also some new kid sitting with them. Jungkook was his name?
"I'll go tell him. You wait here," she said, turning to go talk to him.
Hoseok watched as she tapped Jin on the shoulder and gestured over to him. They all turned to look at Hoseok, standing there with his arms at his sides. After a few moments, Jin finally got up and went over to him.
This would be the first time they would speak in months, and Hoseok barely had time to process any of it. Before he knew it, Seokjin was standing in front of him, and the door to the classroom was closed now.
"Hey," Hoseok said, looking at the blond boy in front of him.
"Hey," was all Jin said.
There was a moment where they just looked at each other, taking in how much the two of them had changed and grown. Hoseok hadn't changed all that much, but Jin had this new aura about him, like he was happier, stronger. Hoseok was glad to see he was doing well.
"So about the note, I just wanted you to know that I feel the same," Hoseok finally said, looking away now. He felt bad for not asking how he had been or something, but he wanted to get straight to the point. "We don't have to do anything, I'm just glad you don't completely hate me."
When Jin didn't say anything, Hoseok looked up at him. His face was wrinkled in confusion, and he was looking at Hoseok like he was insane.
"I'm sorry, but what note?" he said. Hoseok could've sworn his heart stopped.
"You mean you weren't the one who wrote that you missed me?" he asked after the shock finally went away. This was completely humiliating. It was the first time he had spoken to Jin in ages, and he didn't even know what he was talking about.
Just then, Jin started to laugh.
"Miss you?" he said, looking up to the ceiling and smiling. He ran his hands through his hair, shaking his head. "Why the fuck would I miss you?"
Okay, so Seokjin did totally hate him.
"You should probably leave now," Jin said, turning to walk away.
"Wait, but if you didn't write the note, then who-"
Oh.
When Jin shut the door, Hoseok walked over to the classroom window.
There Yoongi was, smiling brightly and looking as beautiful as ever. Hoseok didn't think he really knew what love was until he met him.
They weren't together anymore, and they probably never would be again. Being with him had been a mistake.
For now, Hoseok would admire him from afar.
