Last school year: March
After that night, Hoseok and Jin officially became a couple. As soon as they showed up at the gates hand-in-hand, the news spread through the school at the speed of light. Originally, they had planned on telling their friends in the student council that same day, but the work had already been done for them. Everyone already knew.
"Is it true?!" Namjoon gasped as they walked through the door to the meeting room. He'd clearly been waiting for them to arrive along with everyone else, and the whole room was staring at them.
Hoseok felt Jin squeeze his hand tighter, and his palms were starting to get sweaty. He knew he couldn't handle being under pressure, and he especially didn't like when everyone was watching him. Luckily Jin was oblivious to the fact that girls stared at him every time he walked down the hallways.
Hoseok took in a deep breath, since apparently Jin seemed to be frozen. "It's true," he said, holding up their hands for everyone to see. Jin gave him a nervous glance, like he was unsure about what was happening, but Hoseok just shrugged his shoulders in return. "They might as well know, I guess," he whispered to him.
Namjoon looked like he was about to cry tears of joy, and so did everyone else in the room. Hoseok noticed Taehyung and Jimin sitting in the back, shaking each other with excitement, and some of the girls even started clapping.
"Wow," Hoseok said, his own shock showing on his face. He hadn't expected such a huge response. "Is it really that big of a deal?"
"Yes!"Namjoon exclaimed, throwing his arms around them and squeezing them into one of his bear hugs. "I'm so happy for you guys! I always had a feeling you two would become something more, and now look at you! The perfect couple!"
The perfect couple? That was something Hoseok never expected to hear. The two turned to each other and exchanged smiles as Namjoon squeezed them tightly. Things were going better than they thought.
"Okay, okay, I guess we should probably get to our meeting now," Namjoon said, finally letting go of them, but he was still smiling like crazy. "Come on, Jin," he said, motioning him towards the table where everyone was sitting.
"Wait for me outside?" Jin said to Hoseok in a voice only he could hear. He finally looked like he was calming down. Hoseok nodded his head yes and turned to leave, but before he could, Jin pulled him back to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. Apparently the whole 'living in the moment' thing had really changed him. Hoseok left and shut the door before everyone could see his face turn red.
Now that Hoseok was alone, he realized he hadn't really had time to process what happened the night before. It felt like one minute they were hanging out and talking like they always did, and then the next thing he knew, he was having a makeout session with his best friend. He almost wanted to laugh at the whole situation.
If Hoseok could describe the kiss, he'd say it was pleasant. Kissing Jin was kind of like riding your bike on a warm spring day, or eating freshly baked cookies. It was definitely unexpected, but Hoseok didn't dislike it. It was nice.
But even though the kiss had been good, he couldn't help feeling like something was wrong. He'd been trying not to think about it all morning, but now it was creeping up on him again, and he was all alone with his thoughts. What was this feeling?
Maybe he just wasn't used to having Jin as a boyfriend yet. After all, everything had happened less than 24 hours ago. He figured it was only natural to feel a little weird about the whole thing. But there was still a part of him that worried he might not ever get used to the idea, and it was starting to scare him.
Why hadn't they thought things through anyways? Was it really the best idea to just jump straight into a relationship? They were putting their entire friendship on the line, but they hadn't even thought about it once. Maybe the two of them needed to reconsider some things.
After about twenty more minutes, Jin came out from his meeting, but Hoseok hadn't even noticed.
"Hobi?" Jin waved in front of him. Hoseok was so startled that he nearly jumped backwards.
"Oh gosh you scared me," he said, letting out a laugh. "When did your meeting get out?"
"Just now," Jin answered. He was looking at Hoseok like he was studying him. "Are you alright? You looked like you were zoned out."
"Yeah," Hoseok grabbed his bag, "You know I do that all the time."
He was starting to head to the direction of their classroom when Jin stopped him.
"Wait," he said, Hoseok turning back around. Jin had his hands in his pockets and he was looking at the ground, which was what he always did when he was nervous. "We still have a few minutes before class starts."
Hoseok didn't understand what he was getting at. "Yeah, I know," he said. "So?"
"So..." Jin ran a hand through his hair, looking off to the side. "You know..."
Oh. Hoseok knew what Jin wanted.
The problem was that he wasn't sure if it was such a good idea now. He really needed to talk to Jin so they could sort through everything, but when he stood there like that with his hands in his pockets and acted all shy, he was hard to say no to.
"Alright," Hoseok said, grabbing his hand and leading him outside. He knew just the spot where nobody would see them. "Follow me."
"Okay," Jin said, giggling.
Hoseok led them upstairs to the rooftop. He had discovered last year that there was a key hiding behind one of the picture frames when a ball he'd been throwing accidentally knocked it down. It became his secret hiding place ever since.
"Are you sure we're allowed to be up here?" Jin asked before going through the door.
"Probably not," Hoseok responded, "but no one really seems to care either."
Jin hesitated for a moment, then followed Hoseok through the door. All they could see was the sky and the trees below them now.
"Wow," Jin was walking around, taking in the view. "This is amazing!"
"I know right?" Hoseok remembered the first time he'd been up here and how beautiful it all seemed. There was nothing but the breeze and the occasional sound of the leaves tossing in the air. It was peaceful.
He was also guessing this would be the first time two people made out up here. He turned to grab Jin and pushed him against the wall without saying a word, his lips meeting his for the first time since last night. Jin had clearly been startled, but he was also giggling like crazy. Hoseok hadn't even bothered to start out soft; instead, he had just gone straight for the hard, fast kisses, and Jin seemed to be enjoying every second of it. Hoseok's arms were wrapped around Jin tightly, but Jin seemed to want to touch Hoseok everywhere. His hands moved from his face up to his hair, until finally he'd slipped one of his hands under Hoseok's shirt.
And that was when Hoseok pulled away, letting go of Jin.
"What's wrong?" Jin asked, his breathing still heavy. He almost looked like he was hurt.
That was the thing- Hoseok didn't actually know. Did he just not like kissing Jin as much as he thought he did?
"Look, Jin," he started, "I-"
Right on time, the bell rang, and Jin never hesitated when the bell rang.
"Tell me after class," he said, rushing to grab his things and trying to fix his hair. "Does it look like I just made out with someone for five minutes?"
"Yes," Hoseok smirked, watching the look of panic creep onto Jin's face. "I'm just kidding. You look fine."
"Okay," Jin breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, and one more thing," he said, right as he was about to walk out the door, "Namjoon said one of his friends is gonna be transferring here later today. You'll show him around while we do our after school meeting, right?"
"Sure," Hoseok said, although he wasn't a fan of hanging out with people he didn't know.
"Thanks!" Jin said, and with that, he'd disappeared.
