Last school year: May
"Yoongi!"
Hoseok didn't care if he looked like a total idiot running down the hallway; he had to explain to his boyfriend what was going on. He couldn't even stand the thought of Yoongi being mad at him, especially since they hadn't spoken since the time he'd spent the night.
Yoongi looked over his shoulder, watching as Hoseok ran closer to him. His eyes grew wider.
"What are you doing?" Yoongi asked, glaring at Hoseok as he tried to catch his breath. His red hair was sprawled all over the place now.
"I need to talk to you," Hoseok said, leaning a hand against one of the lockers. Yoongi looked at him for a few moments, then nodded his head for him to continue. "You know that blond guy?" he asked, although it was obvious.
"Yeah, the one who looks like a supermodel?" Yoongi said, although the way he said it sounded more like an insult. "He's clearly got a thing for you. But what about him?"
"He's my best friend," Hoseok sighed, mentally face-palming himself at how weird that must have sounded. He'd never even once mentioned him to Yoongi.
"Best friend?" Yoongi said, wrinkling his eyebrows in confusion. "Since when?"
"Since always," Hoseok answered. "We had a thing in the past. It didn't work out, so we stopped talking for a while. Now we're friends again." That was the short version, anyways.
"Okay..." Yoongi nodded his head slowly, and Hoseok could tell he was still trying to process everything. "Then why couldn't you tell him I'm your boyfriend?"
When Hoseok heard how hurt he sounded, he wanted to pull Yoongi into a hug and hold him tight in his arms, but he wasn't so sure if Yoongi wanted to be near him at the moment.
"I broke up with him because I didn't feel the same way," Hoseok sighed. Yoongi's eyes suddenly lit up at this new detail. "Today he told me he wants to try being friends again, even if I still can't return his feelings, but I was scared that if I told him I was dating you it would just hurt him even more. I didn't know what to do, Yoongi..."
Hoseok looked towards the ground, letting his hair cover his face. He felt terrible for making Yoongi worried. Yoongi was silent for a few moments, and then he crossed his arms, joining Hoseok as he leaned back against the lockers.
"I understand," Yoongi said, voice cool as ice. Hoseok looked over at him, the worried expression no longer on Yoongi's face, and the biggest wave of relief washed over him. "So what are you gonna do then?"
"Well, I'm not entirely sure," Hoseok frowned. "I plan on telling him eventually, I'm just not sure right now is the best time. I don't think he could handle the truth."
Yoongi nodded his head, taking in Hoseok's words. "If that's what you think is best, then you should do it," he said.
Hoseok couldn't believe how amazing Yoongi was being about the whole thing. He didn't know why he hadn't just told him about Jin sooner. Then again, there hadn't really been any point in him knowing until today.
"Thank you," Hoseok said, breathing a sigh of relief. "You're really not mad?"
"No," Yoongi said, pushing himself off the lockers. "But I do require one thing."
"What is it?" Hoseok asked, eager to know what it was. He would practically do anything if it meant making Yoongi happy.
Hoseok watched as a playful smile formed on Yoongi's face.
"Every morning before school, you're all mine," Yoongi said, grabbing Hoseok's hands and pulling him off of the lockers. "And I get to kiss you as much as I want, okay?"
Hoseok was suddenly in a much better mood.
"Deal," he said without a single drop of hesitation. Kissing Yoongi was one of his favorite things in the world.
"Okay," Yoongi said, his face lighting up. "Now let's go somewhere I can properly thank you."
"Thank me? For what?" Hoseok asked, brows furrowing in confusion. But Yoongi just laughed like he'd completely missed something.
"For the other night," he whispered, lacing their hands together. Hoseok's face instantly went up in flames. "Now come on," Yoongi told him, pulling him down the hallway.
"I love you."
As soon as Hoseok said it out loud, he immediately began to panic. Yoongi froze in place, dropping his hand and looking up at him. The two of them just stared at each other for a moment, both of their hearts racing. The people around them suddenly disappeared, and all he could see in that very moment was Yoongi. He felt like he was going to pass out.
Why, out of all the times and places he could have chosen, did he think now was the perfect time to tell Yoongi? It was true, he was in love with him, and he'd known it for some time, but Hoseok had never actually told anyone he'd loved them before. Those three little words were so foreign to him, and now that they were out in the open, he felt more vulnerable than ever. It was like he couldn't breathe.
"Y-you love me?" Yoongi repeated. It was hard to read his face, but Hoseok could have sworn he was just as nervous. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
He nodded his head in reply, too scared to say it again.
"...thank you," Yoongi said.
Before Hoseok could even process what was happening, Yoongi turned to walk in the other direction, leaving Hoseok standing in the middle of the hallway.
