I'll now be trying to write two stories at once, so updates may be ever so slightly slower than usual 😅 But I'm going to try my best to keep up with both!
How was someone supposed to get back together with a guy who hated them? Hoseok had been asking himself this question ever since the class had ended, playing different scenarios in his mind of how he could potentially convince Yoongi to fall for him again. Alas, he remained clueless, feeling as if he'd hit a brick wall.
Hoseok had been hesitant at first, convinced that he didn't deserve to be with anyone ever again. But now there was absolutely no doubt about it; he wanted his boyfriend back, and he was prepared to do whatever it took. They simply belonged together.
Now that his true feelings were out in the open, he already felt like he'd taken a step closer to repairing their relationship. Trying to pretend like he wasn't still in love with him was too difficult, anyways. Not to mention it hadn't even been that long since Yoongi had pulled him out into the school hallways, giving him the best kiss of his entire life. Hoseok had kissed him back like there was no tomorrow, and it would be hard denying that he didn't still have a thing for him after that.
"I dunno, Jim, do you think I even still stand a chance?" he asked, switching his phone over to his other shoulder. Currently, he was lying on top of his bed with his feet up, coloring a picture of a very intricate rainbow and a puppy with ice cream. He was fully aware of how ridiculous he looked, but these nineties themed coloring sheets brought him way too much joy to care.
"Maybe if you could just try and explain to him what happened, he might forgive you, Hobi," Jimin said from the other line. Hoseok almost died of laughter, losing control of his green marker and getting marks all over the puppy's face.
"Oh, Jimin, my sweet, innocent Jimin," he said, finally calming down, "if only things were that simple, I would've done that ages ago. Yoongi doesn't want an explanation from me. Actually, he just doesn't want me to speak to him in general."
"Oh," Jimin said quietly, sounding unusually disappointed. Hoseok knew the wheels must have been turning in his head, trying to figure out some kind of solution for the two of them. Jimin always wanted to try and fix everything, even if he knew he couldn't. "Well, maybe I could talk to him," he proposed, his tone more like a question.
Hoseok scrunched his face in confusion.
"And say what?" he asked, feeling very skeptical. It was definitely an idea, and Jimin did have a very mature aura about him when he spoke to people. But Hoseok knew that if anyone else tried talking to Yoongi, he would just look cowardly.
"I would just tell him to listen to you, I guess," Jimin said as Hoseok snapped the cap onto his green marker. He was trying to determine which color would look best for the puppy's shoes. "It can't hurt anything, right? Besides, he doesn't hate me-- at least, I don't think he does..."
"But I feel like it'll just be weird," Hoseok groaned, throwing himself back onto his pillows. "You don't even know him."
"Yeah, but he's friends with Jungkook isn't he? And that guy sort of owes me an explanation."
Hoseok's eyes lit up, suddenly remembering the boy with all the piercings and his very "forward" way of introducing himself to people. Jimin had still refused to say anything about what happened that day, pretending like he'd never even met Jungkook, but now it seemed like he finally wanted answers.
"How is it sitting next to that guy?" Hoseok asked him, switching the subject away from his own messed up love life. He heard Jimin giggle slightly from the other end.
"Probably not as bad as sitting next to Yoongi," he laughed, and Hoseok couldn't help but laugh as well. "But it's a little weird. He looks at me a lot, and it's sort of uncomfortable."
"I think that just means he likes you," Hoseok smirked, sitting up again and opening a purple marker. "Like he said before, he plans on making you his. The only question is, would you be interested in a guy like him?"
The two went silent for a moment, the only audible sound being Hoseok's marker brushing against the paper. He waited patiently for Jimin's response, now more curious than ever. The fact that he had to think about it only suggested one thing-- Jimin was indeed interested.
"Well, he certainly is attractive," Jimin said shyly, which caused a smile to spread across Hoseok's face. He knew Jimin had to have been at least somewhat intrigued by the man. "But I don't know anything about him, or what he's like. And now that I think about it, he doesn't know anything about me either, so I'm not sure why he would have a thing for me."
"Cause you're a cutie with adorable pink hair," Hoseok said matter-of-factly, shrugging his shoulders. "The boy has good taste, if you ask me."
Jimin paused for a second, Hoseok filling in the polka-dots with a blue glitter gel pen. Just a few more sections to go and his rainbow puppy would be complete.
"Hobi..." Jimin gushed, his voice on the verge of tears. Hoseok sighed and rolled his eyes, practically hearing Jimin's face turn red through the phone; he could be so dramatic sometimes.
"I'm just stating facts, Jim," he reassured him, wishing he could pat him on the shoulder. "Now on the other hand, my taste in men is a little crazy."
Hoseok's mind flashed back to earlier that day, when Yoongi had nearly burst into flames after Hoseok tried to help him with his English assignment. He knew Yoongi was going to be irritated, but he'd never imagined anything like that. Hoseok never wanted to piss Yoongi off for as long as he lived. How did someone even become such a cold person? Hoseok must have been crazy for still being in love with him, even after all of his icy glares.
But when Yoongi was sweet, he really was the cutest thing in the entire world. It was ridiculous how much Hoseok loved his smile, and he'd practically do anything just to see it. He desperately wanted to be a reason Yoongi smiled again, but he wasn't sure if that was even possible anymore.
"I don't think you're crazy," Jimin said, his voice somehow comforting. "I never really looked at him until this year, but he's pretty. Really pretty, actually."
"He is, isn't he?" Hoseok sighed, resting his face in his hand. "I've never felt such a strong attraction towards anyone in my entire life. Everything about him is just intriguing to me, and it's been that way since the moment I first saw him. I mean this guy could literally tell me to go jump off of a cliff, and I would do it as long as he smiled at me and told me he loved me. Well, okay, maybe not that extreme, but you know?"
"Yeah, I know," Jimin said, sounding very sure of himself. For some reason, this caught Hoseok off guard.
"Have you ever felt that way about someone?" Hoseok asked, suddenly interested to hear Jimin's response. But it really wasn't anything special.
"Yes, I have," he replied. It was a vague response, and Hoseok almost wanted to question him further, but he figured it was vague for a reason. Before he could say anything, Jimin spoke instead. "You'll get him back, Hobi, I know you will," he claimed, his voice almost convincing Hoseok that maybe he was right.
"I hope so," he said, feeling his eyes start to flutter shut as he fell asleep.
