"Hoseok, wait!" Yoongi shouted, running out the classroom door. Hoseok was just about to head back before he turned around to find Yoongi chasing after him, a look of shock creeping up over his face.
When Yoongi had left the note in Hoseok's locker, he instantly regretted it. He told himself it was just something he did in the heat of the moment, not because he actually missed Hoseok.
But then Yoongi noticed Hoseok was staring at him again through the window. The original plan was to just ignore him and pretend like he didn't see anything, but he couldn't take it anymore. He had to talk to Hoseok, just to see how he was doing at least. That much couldn't hurt, right?
"Yoongi," he said, his face in awe. Was it really so surprising that he wanted to talk to him?
After a few moments of just looking at each other, Hoseok finally started to walk closer to him, and Yoongi's heart started racing. Hoseok was still just as gorgeous as he'd always been, and it was one of the first things Yoongi tried to forget about him. It was almost like he'd shoved the memory of his looks into a box and thrown it somewhere deep inside the ocean.
But fuck that.
He was taking it all in. The way his messy brown hair touched the tip of his eyelids, the perfect shape of his jawline, how his shirt hugged his toned stomach just right... God, he was beautiful.
But he still hated him.
"Um..." Hoseok started, laughing nervously. He was looking off to the side, but Yoongi was still gazing at him. He was cute when he was nervous. "You put the note in my locker, didn't you?" he asked. He didn't seem mad about it, but actually looked like he was kind of happy.
Yoongi wanted to say yes, or even lie and pretend like he didn't know what Hoseok was talking about, but the words wouldn't come. All he could feel was his heart pounding in his chest and the very, very strong urge to kiss him.
So he did.
He took Hoseok by the hands, pulled him close to his chest, and kissed him. He didn't think about how much Hoseok had hurt him, or the fact that Hoseok might not even want to kiss him. All he knew was that his lips felt amazing on his.
When Hoseok started kissing him back, Yoongi nearly melted from how good it felt. His hands went straight for Hoseok's hair, running his fingers through it and making it messier. Hoseok was holding him tight against his chest, and he could feel his breathing getting heavier. Before they knew it, they were straight-up making out in the school hallway, and he loved every second of it.
But he wasn't stupid. After a few more seconds, he decided to pull away before someone actually walked by and saw them. They were both still breathing heavily, and Yoongi's face had gone completely red. He couldn't believe that he'd actually just kissed Hoseok, the man he'd spent the entire summer despising. Was he really just that easy? He felt pathetic.
"Why did you kiss me?" Hoseok finally said, still looking like he was trying to process what just happened.
"I don't know," Yoongi said, his embarrassment clearly showing. "Why'd you kiss me?" he backfired. That was the real question. Hoseok had dumped him, not the other way around. He wasn't supposed to still have feelings for him, right? He wouldn't have broken up with him otherwise.
The thing was, when Hoseok broke up with him, Yoongi hadn't felt like it was completely over. As far as he knew, their relationship had been in perfect shape. They hadn't fought, he didn't seem distant...nothing was different about them. He hated to admit it, but their relationship was one of the best things that ever happened to him. He woke up everyday feeling happy, like life was so beautiful and he was lucky to be alive. Hoseok had made him completely lovesick, and he was sure he felt the same.
And then Hoseok just broke up with him out of nowhere, with the only reason being that "it didn't feel right." Yoongi didn't believe that for a second. Their relationship was the only thing that had ever made complete sense to him.
"I guess because I missed you too," Hoseok sighed, shoving his hands into his pockets. "You could probably tell, since apparently I keep staring at you," he chuckled.
Yoongi didn't know what to say. One side of him was relieved to hear Hoseok say those words, so relieved that he wanted to kiss him again. The other side, the one with more dignity, thought Hoseok didn't deserve to miss him. He didn't get to break up with him, shatter his heart, and then just say that "he missed him." It just didn't work like that.
Yoongi took a deep breath, then looked over at Hoseok.
"I just wanna know why," he said, sounding more confident than he actually felt. "Why did you end things? I mean, did you ever even really love me? Or was I just some toy that you played around with and then got bored of?"
Hoseok didn't try to defend himself or make up some lame excuse. He just nodded, like he knew Yoongi deserved an answer. Yoongi just wasn't so sure if he was actually ready to hear it, now that he was really going to tell him.
"I loved you more than anything," Hoseok said, looking straight into his eyes, and Yoongi believed him. "But I was cheating on you, and that's why I had to leave you."
