chapter 2 - snape

hogwarts express

James POV 

After my little episode with Lily, we decided to all stay in the same compartment as the girls. 

Evans wasn't happy but I sure was. She hasn't talked to me in 30 minutes. We're getting close to Hogwarts and are a little bit bored. Seems that Sirius, Peter, Lupin, and this Alice girl have finished their long conversation about mine and Evan's wedding. 

"Anyone up for truth or dare?" Sirius, aka Padfoot says after a bit of silence. 

We all (Lily reluctantly) agree to play. 

"Prongs (James), truth or dare?" Sirius says, grinning. 

"DARE!" I say loudly. 

"Change into your robes in front of all of us." 

"Oh no you don't. I'm leaving." Lily says repulsively, leaving our compartment. 

"Lilyyyyyyyyyyy it's not that bad." Alice says, laughing. 

But Lily had already left.

Lily POV 

So what if I'm dramatic? I don't need to see Potter changing. As I walk down the train hallway to get a drink of water. I met someone who I wished I hadn't seen. 

Severus Snape. 

"Hello Lily." He said coldly. 

Already changed into his Syltherin robes, Snape was tall and lanky with long black hair. He sort of looked like a knockoff Sirius Black. 

"Hey Snape." I say coolly, trying to stay civil. 

Snape called me a mudblood last year and I don't think I could ever forgive him. 

"How's your perfect boyfriend, Potter?" 

"Snape you know very well I hate him and have been rejecting him since 4th year." 

"Then why was he holding you a few hours ago? I saw you two." 

"He wouldn't put me down until I called him James." 

"He's an annoying little twap."

"Yeah, an annoying little twap who fancies me but still managed to date almost every girl in the whole school. I'm pretty sure he has a fan club." 

Snape laughed a little at that. It made me remember when we were younger an went to the Muggle park in my neighborhood and he told me all about the wizarding world. 

"Well see you around, Sev." 

"See you, Lily." Snape said, giving me a quick hug. All at the wrong time, however, as Sirius saw us and immediately alerted Potter who swiftly walked out of our compartment.

"Hands off my girl, Snivellus!" Potter said loudly. 

"What?!" I said angrily. I wasn't anyone's girl. 

"Lily doesn't want you!" Snape said turning and leaving before Potter could hex him. I turn around and look at Potter. 

"I didn't need your help, you half-witted prick." I said angrily.

"You know, it's really funny to mess with smart people like you, Lily." 

James Potter just used my actual name. Gotta admit it was pretty cute.

"And why's that?" 

"I learn a bunch of new words. Last year I kept bugging Moon-I mean Remus while he was studying and he threatened to 'defend the strait.'" 

"What does that mean?" I say, half laughing. 

"It means to throw someone out a window." 

I laughed at this and noticed his tie wasn't tightened all the way. 

"Your tie's undone, Potter." 

Before he could reply, I fixed it for him. 

"T-thanks Li-Evans." He stuttered, turning bright red and messing up his hair more. 

"Come on, we're almost to Hogwarts." 

"You have to change into your robes." He said, gesturing at his Gryffindor robes.

"Yeah ok I'll change and come back to the compartment, ok?"

Potter started to walk away when I said. "Oh, and by the way James, flatten your hair a little bit. You look like a rat." I smirked and walked  away.

James POV 

I just stood there as Lily walked away. I didn't even have to blackmail her. I looked around and silently fist pumped and actually flattened my hair while walking back to our compartment. 

"What took you so long?" Sirius asked. 

"Nothing." 

Lily came in a few minutes later and we all talked for a little more until the train stopped and we got off. Alice and Lily separated from us and walked to a carriage. I made it my mission to sit with both of them along with my fellow Marauders. 

This is going to be a very fun year.
