Lily POV

James had asked me out to the Yule Ball almost a month ago and I hadn't answered. I haven't even bought a dress yet and that was like the only part I was excited about. So on Saturday, Alice, Marlene and I went dress shopping in Hogsmeade. My favorite color is light blue so we took a long time looking at dresses to try and find the exact right shade of blue.

"Lils, I can't wait for yours and James' wedding." Alice said as she put a dress we deemed to lacey back on the rack.

"Nice try, but no. I can't marry him." I say, pulling out a sparkly yellow robes and quickly putting them back as soon as I noticed the price.

"Yeah, whatever. Wait, look at this dress, Lils!" Alice said suddenly, pulling out a sky blue dress. The dress had an off the shoulder neckline with a high leg slit and a full length skirt. It was absolutely gorgeous.

Alice still needed a dress and Marlene already had sparkly silver robes back at the castle, so we stayed at madame malbergie's for another hour or two. We walked out with my dress and Alice's new navy and gold collared dress and Marlene buying several necklaces. We headed back to the castle for dinner and changed out of our wet and cold snowy clothes we had been wearing and into me comfy ones, meaning sweaters and jeans and headed to dinner, where we saw James, Peter, Remus, and Sirius. Sirius and Marlene had started dating 2 weeks ago and she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before sitting down next to each other.

"Lily!" James cooed at me.

"Your royal pratiness has spoken?" I asked sarcastically.

"Would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?"

"I'll think about it."

James gasped in mock offense and looked away.

"Alice and Mar I'm gonna head up to bed, ok?"

"Okay, night Lils!" they said in unison.

I was almost to the portrait hole when I heard footsteps and I turned around.

"Potter." I said stiffly.

"Lily, sorry about asking you this but have you made up your mind about going to the ball with me?" James said quickly as he messed up his hair nervously.
