Chapter 16

Lexi's POV

As I drove towards Colton's house, I could fell my heartbeat increasing. I couldn't believe I was actually doing this.

I pulled into his driveway about 10 minutes later and quickly texted him to let him know I was there. Not a minute later he walked out of the front door of his house looking gorgeous as ever in dark jeans, a blue button-down shirt that had the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and black converse. And of course his hair was stylishly messy as always.

"Hey beautiful." he said with a smile when he reached the car.

"Hi handsome." I replied and went on my tip-toes to give him a kiss on the lips.

"So...what's with the date suddenly?"he asked curiously.

"Can't I spend time with my boyfriend?" I asked, surprising myself.

"Of course you can!"he said, leaning down to give me another kiss.

I was first to pull away. "Come on! We better get going."I said.

"Where?"he asked.

"It's a surprise."I said, winking at him.

I took the wheel and started driving towards the meadow.

Colton's POV

Throughout the drive to this surprise location, I watched my beautiful girlfriend singing along to the songs playing on the radio. She looked so excited but I could sense a little nervousness..I wonder why.

After about 15 to 20 minutes she stopped near an opening that lead to the kind of forest.

I looked at her with a puzzled expression.

"Princess, where are we?" I asked her.

"You'll see.." she said, winking.

I pulled her in for a kiss. One that she relaxed into immediately.

She led the way into the woods whilst holding my hand.

She stopped when we reached a large meadow. And let me tell you it was beautiful. She let go of my hand and walked over to a tree under which there was a picnic basket and a blanket.

I followed her and helped her spread the blanket.

"Not bad.."I said teasingly after we sat down.

"Whatever!" she replied in the same tone..

"So....how was your day?" she asked me slowly.

"Well....it was good. But as I said earlier it would have been better with you there." I said winking at her.

Cue blush. My heart started beating faster at the thought of her blushing at whatever I say.

We spoke for sometime, and ate the snacks and drinks she prepared for us.

"So....you really want to know why I planned this?" she asked looking up at me through her lashes with those beautiful eyes.

"Mmm?"I mumbled as I bent down to give her a kiss.

"I wanted to tell you something." she said nervously.

"What is it?"

She moved away from the tree we were leaning against and came to sit right in front of me.

"Princess..."

"I love you." she said looking me straight in the eye, and my heart stopped.

I opened my mouth to speak but she cut me off.

"Shh..Let me finish. This might sound weird but honestly I don't know when I started falling for you. That day at the party, when you kissed me , all I felt were fireworks. It was perfect. You were perfect. And I am so much in love with you." she finished, leaning forward to give me a sweet but passionate kiss.

I pulled away and rested my forehead against hers.

Lexi's POV

He pulled away from the kiss and rested his forehead against mine.

I can't believe I actually told him. I felt the butterflies in my stomach go crazy and I was sure my cheeks were red.

"Guess what...?" he started. " I am in love with you too." he said, and my heart went into overdrive.

"Ever since the first time I saw you, I was in love with you, princess. I was so happy when you agreed to be my girlfriend. I wanted to show you off to the world , introducing you as my beautiful, loving and most caring girl. I love you Lexi Evans and I promise never to hurt you for as long as I live." he finished.

My heart went into double overdrive as I took in all what he said. I jumped into his arms and kissed him fiercely and passionately. And I was rewarded with the same intensity in the way he kissed me back.

We spent the rest of the evening cuddling under the tree, kissing and talking. I couldn't be any happier than at that very moment.
