Lexi's POV
I went straight to the washroom and splashed water on my face. I usually cry out of anger and today I don't know what I would have done to him if I hadn't walked away.
I knew I had to get as far from him as possible. I got my phone out and texted Colton.
Me: Hey. You done with your work??
Colton: Yeah...I'm leaving for school now. Why?
Me: Will you skip the rest of the day too? With me? I need to go out.
Colton: Of course princess...anything for you...I'll be at the school gate in about 10.
Me: K.Love you.
Colton: See you...love u too...:)
I put my phone in my jeans pocket and walked out to the front gate. On my way there, I stopped by Riley's locker to tell her that I was skipping the rest of the day.
"Is everything alright?"she asked me after looking at my face.
"Yeah....I'll explain everything to you and Crystal later ok?" I assured her. She nodded.
I was waiting at the front gate for about 2 minutes when Colton's car pulled up. I got into the car and smiled at him.
"Hey, baby, everything ok?" he asked after kissing me softly on the lips.
I nodded because I didn't exactly know how to break it to him. I mean I just couldn't go up to him and say, 'Hey boyfriend, my ex just kissed me on the lips without asking me.' So yeah..
He gave me a funny look but started driving anyway.
"Where are we going?" I asked him after a while.
"Um..I figured I could take you to my place...if you're okay with it." he said shyly.
"Sure..I wanted to meet your parents anyway." I told him smiling.
"Well my mom's at home but my dad is not in town today." he replied.
"That's okay, I guess."
The rest of the drive was spent in silence. Comfortable silence and every few minutes Colton would sing along to the song playing on the radio.
He stopped in front of his house and came over to my side and opened the door for me. He helped me out of the car and walked up to the door with his hand around my waist.
He walked into the house, "Mom! I'm back home." he said loudly.
"Hey honey, how come you're ba--" his mom walked out of the kitchen, she stopped saying whatever she was going to say when she saw me.
"Mom, I want you to meet my girlfriend. This is Lexi." He said pointing towards me. "Lex, this is my mom."
"Pleasure to meet you Mrs. Williams." I said smiling.
"Oh the pleasure's all mine!" she said giving me a warm hug."And honey?"
"Yes?"I asked.
"Call me Hazel."
"Haha okay."
His mom was a petite woman who must have been in her mid-forties. She was a brunette and had green eyes. That's where Colton got his eyes.
"Y'all go do something and I'll bring some snacks."Hazel said.
"We're going up to my room." Colton said before taking my hand and leading me up the stairs.
His room was the opposite of what a stereotypical boy's room should be. It was neat and clean. There were three guitars hanging on the wall and a keyboard in the corner of the room.
"I've been practicing a song to sing to you."he said shyly.
"To me?"I asked. He nodded.
"Sit."he told me and then went and brought his acoustic guitar and sat next to me on the couch.
"Alright. It's called Olive You." he said.
He started strumming the intro of the song and then started singing in his beautiful voice.
" Can't get the words out of my mouth
That little feeling everyone talks about
The things you say like I miss your face
I wanna let you know but I can't get the words to go soOlive you and everything you do
What two words can mean afraid to say the other three
Olive you the words are coming true
I don't know what to say but olive you"He stopped singing and gestured for me to continue with the second verse. And since I knew the song , I sang it.
"Can't fight the feeling I feel inside
I try to tell you but I always hide
The things you say like I want you to stay right
Here by my side and let the words slideOlive you and the little things you do
What two words can mean afraid to say the other three
Olive you the words are coming true
I don't know what to say but olive you
(Olive you olive you olive you)
(Olive you olive you olive you)
(Olive you olive you olive you)
(Olive you olive you olive you)You, You, You wanna tell me but I, I, I don't know how to say it
I'll let it out what's been on my mind
Those two words need and I love...I love you and everything you do
These two words mean what I meant to say with three
I love you never felt so smooth
All I can say is I love you(Olive you olive you olive you)
I love you
(Olive you olive you olive you)
I love you
(Olive you olive you olive you)
I love you
(Olive you olive you olive you)
I love you "We finished the song together. Colton placed his guitar down and pulled me in for a kiss. A short but sweet one. Both of us pulled away at the same time and he leaned his forehead against mine and whispered,
"I love you, princess."
"I love you.."I whispered back, and I was sure my cheeks were red.
I realised that I had to tell him what had happened at school.
"Colton...?"I started.
"Yeah?"
"I need to tell you something."I said not looking at his face. I couldn't help but feel guilty even though I knew it wasn't my fault.
"What is it, princess?" he asked and got his hand under my chin and made me look up at him.
"At sch--"I started, but was interrupted by his mom.
"Kids! Why don't y'all come down? Snack's ready!" she called out.
"We'll be right there, mom!" Colton yelled back.
"Lexi...tell me.." he said.
"Um..I'll tell you later? We really shouldn't keep your mom waiting." I said.
"Promise?"
"Promise."
He pulled me into a hug and planted a firm kiss on my forehead after he released me.
