Chapter 20

Colton's POV

I couldn't believe my ears. I couldn't believe what I had heard a few minutes ago. I couldn't believe Lexi had kissed that--

"F**k!"I yelled, kicking the wheel of my car.

I was currently standing in the school's parking lot, trying to decide where to go. Alex and Darren would be in their classes so I couldn't really go to them. I could go somewhere on my own but then I'd end up doing something stupid. So I went home. I went to my mom because I knew she was the only one who could calm me down in a situation like this one.

Lexi's POV

"He wouldn't even hear me out!" I shouted through my tears to Crystal and Riley who were sitting opposite me on my bed.

I attended the rest of my classes because I had already missed the previous day and then texted both my best friends to come over after dinner. I sent a lot of messages and called Colton an awful number of times but didn't receive a reply to a single call or text.

"I'm sure he just needs some time to calm down.." Riley said softly, shifting so she could put her arm around my shoulders. Jake was at work so he didn't know still.

"But...he looked at me with disgust! Like...as if he didn't want anything to do with me."

"Oh honey...don't say such things..try talking to him tomorrow...maybe he'll listen?" Crystal said."Just try..."

"Yeah...it's getting late, y'all should get going."

"Yeah...we'll see you tomorrow. Take care, Lex,try to get some sleep."

Both of them took turns giving me a hug and then left.

I wiped the tears from my face and went back to my room after locking the front door.

He didn't really break up with me so maybe I still had a chance... Maybe.

Colton's POV

I got out of the car and ran into the kitchen knowing my mom would be there.

"Honey...you're home early again." she said, a hint of surprise in her voice.

Without saying a word, I hugged her, buried my face in the crook of her neck and cried. What a baby, right? I don't care. I love Lexi, it's only natural for me to feel like this.

"Colton, honey, what's wrong?" my mother asked, concern evident in her voice and on her face.

"Lexi..." I started after I stopped crying. My mom is the only person who has seen me cry.

"What about Lexi?" she asked.

" She and her ex-boyfriend kissed."

"Oh honey..."

"That doesn't anger me because I know she wouldn't do that to me on purpose, I'm upset, I'm disappointed mom! Why? Because I didn't hear it from her! I heard it from some random girl whose name I don't even know! When my girlfriend was standing right in front of me!" I yelled.

"I'm so sorry sweetie but did she make an attempt to explain anything to you?" mum asked.

"Yeah...I guess she did." I said quietly.

"Did you try to listen to what she had to say?"

"Not really..I walked out before she could say anything."

"There it is...I'm not taking sides or anything sweetie but I know when someone is right. Or at least, when that someone deserves a chance." she said, squeezing my hands.

"But--" I started.

"Colton, you're in love with that girl...Just talk to her...set things right..please?"

"Mom..."I started.

"Please?" she repeated, softly, looking into my eyes.

I sighed and went up to my room. I got my phone out of my jeans pocket and stared in shock at the number of missed calls and messages...all from the same number. Lexi.

56 missed calls and around 35 messages.

These were few of the messages.

1.Colton i'm so sorry...

2. Baby, please answer my calls...

3. I love you...please reply to my messages...

4. Baby I'm so so sorry...please just hear me out.

I put the phone on my bed and headed the bathroom to shower.

I got out of the bathroom and changed into a t-shirt and shorts. I lay down on my bed with my phone in my hands which were folded on my stomach as I stared up at the ceiling, thinking.

I started typing a message to Lexi but deleted it before I could press the option to send the message.

I love her so much it hurts.

I knew I should give her a chance to explain but....

She deserves a chance..

After debating with myself for God knows how long, I called her.

Within seconds she answered the phone.

"Colton, baby I'm so sorry..." she cried over the phone.

"Shh...princess, don't cry.."

"I'm so sorry, I'm sorry..." she kept repeating over and over, continuously crying.

"No, baby, I'm sorry, I should've heard you out." I said, squeezing my eyes shut, my heart constricting at her crying voice.

"Can I come over?" I asked her. It was around 8 o'clock and even though I knew she'd have no problem, I asked her.

"Of course you can." she said through her tears.

I hung up after that, grabbed my phone and went to my parents room.

"Mom, I'm going to Lexi's." I told her before going to grab my keys and jacket.

"Be careful! And good luck!" she shouted out.

"Thanks mom!" I yelled back.

Quickly I got into my car and drover to Lexi's place as fast as I could.

She was waiting for me at her front door. As soon as I got out of the car, she ran to me and hugged me tight, tears rolling down her beautiful face continuously.

"Shh....baby, don't cry...I'm here and I'm sorry." I said softly, kissing the top of her head. I kissed her passionately on the lips before telling her I love her and led her inside. I sat her down on the sofa and wiped her tears.

"I didn't Colton....he kissed me without telling me.." she said as she burst out crying again." I would never do that to you.." she said and buried her face in my chest.

I held her close to me. "Don't say anything princess. I know you wouldn't do that to me...I wasn't angry with you.. I was just upset because you didn't tell me yourself, that's all. I just needed some time to calm down."

"I was going to, before that girl opened her stupid mouth."she told me, still crying.

"Well, I don't care anymore. What matters is, I'm here with you and I love you. What's passed is past. So let's leave it behind." I told her with a smile.

"I love you so much.." she said, wiped her tears and pulled me in for a kiss. And man, did it feel good.
