Riley's POV

I went to the library during home room, just to see what they had. They had a pretty good selection. I've been reading a lot of fantasy lately, so I decide to go to the non-fiction section, just to change it up a bit. I skim through the titles, just to see if anything in particular catches my eye.

And something does.

I'm quite surprised to be finding it in a school library of all places though.

I take the book off of the shelf and read the summary on the back. This one looks like it could be a bit better than the last one I read...

I decide I should get it.

I step into the line of the other kids checking out. I hold the book to my chest so that no one can see the title.

I step up to the librarian at the computer.

"Can I see your ID hun?"

I nod and hand my school ID to her. She looks at it and scans it to the computer.

"Are you that Chris Motionless' daughter?"

I just nod.

"My son is a fan of his." She says, giving me my ID back. I hand her the book. She looks down at it, then back up at me with her eyebrows raised.

I widen my eyes and whisper to her, "Please don't tell anyone."

She pauses, then scans the book, "I've taken my son to a few of their concerts. Each time we met them, they showed us nothing but kindness." She hands the book back to me, "I don't think you'll have any problems with this."

I take the book, "Thank you." I say, quickly.

"Our counselors are here to help you, Riley."

I sigh, "Thank you, really, but just the book will do." I say before walking off.

Chris' POV

Riley gets into the front passenger side and sets her bag down before shutting the door, "Hey."

"Hey." I say, "How was it?"

"You went there, you should know."

I roll my eyes, "Humor me."

"Well, one pretty crazy thing did happen today."

"And what was that?" I ask as I start to drive off.

"Remember when I first got back and I said that there was a girl that helped me escape? Maxine Taylor? She's here!"

"What?"

"Yeah! See, I bumped into this one other girl and she started being a total bitch to me because she knew who I was and who Motionless was and she started acting like we were demons or some shit. Anyway, Max then stepped up and told her to leave me alone. So after that, she and I walked off together. Turns out, her mom lost her job in Washington, but an old friend that happens to live near here got Max's mom a job here - so they moved here!"

"Wow, that's so weird that she'd end up here of all places."

"I know...But I can officially say I've made a friend so there's one thing you can remove from the list of things you have to worry about."

I chuckle, "Good. You'll have to bring her by some time. I'd like to be able to thank the one that helped you get back to me in person."

Riley just nods.

"So who was this girl that was giving you a hard time?"

"Ugh. Emily Poncher."

"Poncher? Oh, great." I deadpan.
