Riley's POV
Two weeks later.
"Hey." Jack says, approaching me.
"Hey." I repeat, shutting my locker.
Max walks over as well, "Hi, love. Hey, Jack."
"Hey." I say, putting my arm around her and kissing her cheek.
"'Sup." Jack greets.
We start walking down the hallway. Jack, Max and I have hung out during school every day for the last couple weeks. Max and I even went to one of his basketball games and we got acquainted with some of the guys on the team. This is all slowly becoming one of those teen movies where the cliques mix and become unlikely friends.
Max started waitressing at the diner. When I'm not rehearsing with Jack and I don't have much homework, I'll go there and keep her company. It's just a small diner so I can usually just sit on one of the bar stools at the counter, order a cup of coffee, and chat with Max while she works. Her manager doesn't mind.
Her manager seems to like me, actually. He even offered me a job there. I considered it, but declined the offer for now. A job could potentially get in the way of Jack and I rehearsing and the several other things I've got going on in my life at the moment. Once things start to slow down a bit though, I'll definitely see if the offer is still up for grabs.
Whenever Max has a day off, she'll come over to my house. We usually just watch movies and cuddle. She's usually tired from a week of school and work, and she's still recovering from the loss of her dad. I'm glad I can be a source of comfort for her though.
Surprisingly, it seems that Jack is drifting away from his jock friends more and more and is gravitating toward Max and I moreso. He's sat with us at lunch every day this week so far. He says he likes us more than them. We're more real, more honest. I suppose I can't argue with that notion.
A week ago, Allie, Jessica, Ryan Ashley and Kylie took Max and I Black Friday shopping. That was an adventure, to say the least. It was fun though. I got a nice dress for the show.
We bought a bunch of other things we didn't need as well, but that apparently is all the fun of shopping. It know the whole point of Black Friday is to get Christmas presents early or whatever, but we mostly got things for ourselves.
It was good to hang out with the girls. Max and I hung out with the guys before, but she didn't really know their girlfriends that well. It was a lot of fun excluding the other crazy Black Friday shoppers running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
Max, Jack and I all walk into English class and sit down. School is honestly such a drag now that I actually have a life outside of it. I keep my grades up though. I'd like to have a future and I need the grades to get there. I'm still not quite sure what exactly I want to do with my future though...

Jack had basketball practice and Max has to work, so it's just me today. I don't mind though. I like being alone and doesn't happen as much as it used to anymore.
I button up my coat as I walk out of school and towards my bike. I unlock the bike and put my lock in my backpack. I then plug my headphones into my phone and pedal off as the music begins to fill my ears.
About five minutes in, my music gets interrupted by my phone actually ringing. I press the button on my earphones and slow down a bit so I can speak clearly.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Riley."
I smile, "Hey, Dad. Did you guys just land?"
