Riley's POV

I walk out of the house. I try to run, but it hurts to much. I'm hurt and beaten and bruised. I have a terrible ache between my legs, and my eye hurts like a bitch. I know that I have to keep going though. If "Sam" finds me, I'm finished. This is my one chance.

I mentally go over Max's instructions in my head. First step: go into town and hail a cab. The house isn't too far away from the down town area, so it's not so bad a walk. That is, until it starts raining. Great.

I'm pretty much soaked when I finally make it to wear I need to be. There aren't many people around, which makes me happy because that hopefully means I'll get a cab easier.

As if on cue, I see one of the yellow cars driving toward me. I step up to the edge of the sidewalk and wave, hoping to get the driver's attention. Luckily, I do.

I open the back passenger door and step in. I close the door behind me and shiver from the cold. I exhale tiredly, then look to the cab driver.

"Where to, kid?"

"Take me to the airport."

"That's a bit of a drive. You got the kinda money for -"

"Yes, just drive." I demand.

The driver shrugs, then the cab begins to move.

I exhale heavily and lean back against the seat. I did it. I made it this far.

"What time is it?" I ask.

"Little after four o'clock." The driver says, "We should be at the airport between 4:30 and 5."

I nod, then continue staring out the window as the water droplets fall from the sky onto the window as we drive by the buildings.

"So, where you flying to?" The driver asks.

"Scranton."

"Family there?"

"Yeah. My dad. Haven't seen him in a while. I'm excited."

"You don't sound like it."

"I've just had a long day; I'm tired." I say.

He nods, "So why the sunglasses on a rainy day?"

"I sort of have a black eye. I'm a cheerleader at my school and the pyramid kinda went wrong." I fib.

*

I pay the driver, thank him, then step out of the car. I look at the airport a minute, then follow the first person I see inside. I look around.

I have no idea what to do.

I then remember Max's instructions. I need to get a ticket. First, I need to find someone that works here.

I find what looks like a guard, considering the uniform. I walk up to her, somewhat nervously. She sees me and raises her eyebrows, expectantly.

"Can you point me towards ticket purchasing?" I ask.

The guard tells me where I need to go. I thank her, then head in the direction she gave me. Finally, I find what I need.

I find the line that leads to ticket purchasing and step in. Max told me the key to this was to act like I've done this hundreds of times. Soo, that's exactly what I did.

"How can I help you?" The woman asks.

"I need a ticket to Scranton, Pennsylvania."

"Okay, let's see..." She says, typing something on her computer, "Ah, you're in luck! There's a flight to Wilkes-Barre international in 45 minutes."
