A/N: Hey guys. Soo, as I said this chapter is going to be a short one but it's really really important so you really need to pay attention to it.
Time Leap.
Chris' POV
Our tour in Europe was absolutely amazing. We got to reach out to so many amazing new people, and over all it was an incredible experience. We got to see and do so many cool things and we've learned so much over these past couple months. Needless to say, however, I'm ready to be home and see Riley.
I drive as fast as I can to Nick's place, where Riley is today. I'm eager to see her, and to see Nick too. I always look forward to seeing my family when I'm home. Don't get me wrong, I love touring and what I do; it's my passion. But I will always love my family more.
I pull up to the house and get out of my car. I approach the house, but before I can even knock, the door opens and Riley dashes out. Nick follows close behind her.
"Hey there, baby girl!" I say, scooping her up, "God, you're getting heavy. Did you grow?" I ask her.
"I'd say she has." Nick says.
" 'Sup, little brother? Good to see you." I say, quickly hugging him as well.
"You too, man. How was Europe?"
"Absolutely amazing. I'm exhausted though. And really jet-lagged."
"I bet." Nick says, "Well, it will please you to know that Riley has been absolutely great these past couple months you've been gone."
"Have you been good for everyone?" I ask Riley.
She nods and smiles.
"She's seriously the most well behaved child I've ever seen." Nick says.
"Yeah, that worries me sometimes. Shouldn't kids be like, difficult?"
"Ever think you worry a little too much?"
"Yes."
"Well, at least you admit it." Nick laughs.

Time Leap.
Riley's dirty blonde hair hung over her shoulders and she smiles up at me. She's in an over sized MIW shirt that on her, could probably pass for a dress, black jeans, and black converse - all of which SHE picked out.
Today is Riley's fourth birthday. I still can't believe that it was four years ago today that Carlie called me from band practice to tell me she'd gone into labor. I still remember the moment I held Riley for the first time. In that moment, I knew that I'd want to protect her for as long as I lived.

Flashback.
Carlie laid back on the bed, exhausted. The doctor began to sew her up between her legs as the nurses took our baby girl to the scale in the corner of the room. Carlie tried to look past the doctor and over to the baby. And I just sort of...stood there.
"Is she okay?" Carlie asked over the sound of the crying infant.
"She's just fine." One of the nurses says, smiling.
"Does the father want to cut the umbilical cord?" The other nurse asks, looking to me.
I just shake my head 'no'.
"What are you thinking of naming her?" The doctor asks.
"Chris, you won the coin toss." Carlie exhales, squeezing my hand.
