Chapter 27

Chris' POV

Buuuzzzz

I press the button next to the door and speak, "Hello?"

"Hi, um, it's Max."

"Come on up." I say, pressing the button that unlocks the gates.

A minute later, I open the door to see Max walking up in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles half shirt with a black long sleeved shirt under it, ripped high-waisted jeans, a green bow in her hair, many bracelets - including her rainbow one - and maroon platform boots. Her eyes are covered in dark makeup and her lips are bright red. I wonder if all of Max's outfits are this...extravagant. I like that though. She's not afraid of what others may think. Maybe she can pass that on to Riley...

"Hey. Come in." I say, stepping aside.

Max nods and steps in.

Sabrina walks out, "Oh! You must be Max! It's so nice to finally meet you. I'm Sabrina."

Max gives a small smile, "I know." She says, "Riley's told me a lot about you."

"She's in her room." I say, "Just go upstairs and its the second door down."

Max nods, then heads to the stairs.

"Max, wait." I say.

Max turns around, "Yeah?"

I pause, "Thank you." I start, "For helping Riley get back from Washington...I'm not sure if she could have gotten back without you." I say, "I also want you to know that you're welcome here any time."

Max nods, "Thank you. If all goes well here, I just might have to take you up on that." She smiles before heading upstairs.

"Riley, keep your door open!" I call.

"Soo what now?" Sabrina asks.

"Well, I asked Riley what she wanted to do about telling everyone else about...everything that's happened over the last couple days, and she says she wants to tell everyone. So I guess I should shoot the guys a text and tell them to stop by."

"This should be interesting." Sabrina says.

Sabrina presses the button, "Hello?"

"It's us, let us up!" Balz says.

Sabrina presses the button and the gates open. She then goes into the kitchen.

A minute later, I open the door and the guys all pile in.

"Wow, looks like the rest of the unpacking went well." Ricky says.

"Yeah, it's been pretty good." I say.

"Where's Riley?" Ryan asks.

"Oh yeah. Girls!" I call.

"You look exhausted, dude." Vinny says.

"That's because I am. The last two days have been -" I then cut myself off when I see the girls at the top of the stairs.

"Oh my God." Max says, wide eyed.

"Um, I guess we can just have Riley explain." I say, "Come on down."

Riley takes Max's hand and practically has to pull Max down the stairs as Max looks too shocked to even breathe.

Riley just smiles, "Everyone," She starts, "This is Maxine Taylor - the girl that helped me escape from Washington, the Max that Sabrina blabbed to you all about on Warped -"
