Riley's POV

A week and a half later.

The show is in just a couple of days and everyone has a lot of getting ready to do still. Today is my last "day off" before chaos hits. It's also Max's day off, so I plan on taking advantage of that.

I put my things in my locker and get what I need for my first class. I look over and see just the person I'm thinking about walking up to me. I smile and shut my locker.

"Hi, baby."

"Hey." She says, smiling. We quickly kiss, then lean against the lockers.

"Can you come over today?" I ask.

"Don't you and Jack have to rehearse? The show is in just a couple of days."

"He's out of town at a family reunion. We'll rehearse tomorrow once he's back. Today is probably our last day off before everything starts to get crazy so I'd like to just be alone with you and...hang out." I say.

Max purses her lips, "Okay. I don't think my mom will mind."

"Awesome." I say, "I've gotta get to class. I'll see you later."

"Okay."

I quickly kiss her, "I love you."

"Love you too." She says before we walk our separate ways.

After many long classes, it's finally time for lunch. Max and I have met a lot of new people that I suppose you could call friends of ours now. The majority of them are MIW fans, so I'm not entirely sure they're actually nice people or if they're just hoping to meet Chris Motionless through me. Some of the guys on the basketball team met us through Jack and are pretty cool, I guess. The point is Max and I are no longer sitting alone just the two of us at lunch, which I guess is pretty nice.

Emily has been slightly less irritating lately. It almost seems like she isn't he leader of the 'Motionless-Haters' pack anymore. She's just sort of going along with what everyone else is saying. Maybe she finally feels guilty because she knows what we're really like now. Maybe she still feels sorry for Max because of that whole situation. Or maybe she's just taking a break from being the Queen Bitch for a while. Who knows?

Over all, I guess you could say that school is getting better now that I don't have just one other person to talk to. Don't get me wrong, I love Max and she is definitely my best friend here; but its nice to actually feel comfortable with the people in the classes that Max isn't in with me. It makes me feel like less of an outsider as I did before.

After lunch, I have homeroom, psychology, music and biology. Then finally, it's the end of the day. I get my things and walk to Max's locker. She's putting her things in her backpack.

"Hey." I say.

She looks up and sees me before smiling, "Hey" She repeats.

"You ready?" I ask.

Max nods and shuts her locker. She puts her backpack on her shoulders and we walk out of the building hand in hand.

It's actually a pretty nice day for December in Scranton. There's snow on the ground, but no snow is currently falling. It isn't even really windy, so the cold isn't bitter. It's mainly just a bit chilly. Aside from the crunches under our feet when we walk on the snow, and the occasional car that drives by, all is quiet as Max and I walk.

"Are you excited for the band to come home?" Max asks, breaking the silence.

I smile, "Yeah."

"Has your dad told you what the 'surprise' is yet?"
