summary: You're a detective/cop and you're interrogating connor murphy for murder

important question: what was the name of the boys name in cat in the hat because something inside of me thinks it's connor murphy

whatever lol

I tapped my foot as I waited for my partner to come back with the suspect/possible culprit. The case this time? Murder. And a gruesome one at that. A shooting, killed parents and a little kid. They left before anyone could see their face.

My partner in crime (literally), Jeremy (😎), stormed in with a file in hand and plopped it on the desk I was sitting on.

"Connor Murphy. College dropout, now works at a bass pro shop in the hunting section. Has a history of suicidal thoughts and actions, taking and dealing drugs, and abuse towards family. I have a feeling this is our guy."

I nodded my head. I examined his sharp and lean features. Long and skinny nose, bushy eyebrows that put his face in a forever-frowning profile, small lips, beady brown eyes.

Something about him seemed all too familiar.

"Is he here?"

I asked Jeremy.

"Just outside. We'll get him in the chair."

I exhaled slowly as I watched him leave the room. The dark walls of the interrogation room got seemingly smaller with every passing moment.

I swear I've seen that kid before, but where?

My thoughts were interupted by a knock on the door. I looked up and sighed.

"Come in"

I said dryly. Something inside told me this was gonna be a long process.

Jeremy pulled in connor, hands cuffed behind. He fought against the restraints, but it wasn't enough for him to be set free. He grunted, tried to pull away from Jeremy, but Jeremy plopped him into a chair before closing the door and uncuffing him. He wiggled his wrists and hands in order to get his circulation back, which he needed. His hands were as white as paper.

"Tie those cuffs tighter will ya? jesus christ."

I looked at him again. His face was older in real life, like it had seen much more troubling things than I had imagined.

"Well? are you gonna talk to me or not?"

I sighed and emerged forward, making eye contact with Jeremy.

"Alright Connor. Let's start with some simple questions. Where were you on the day that family was killed?"

He sighed.

"I was at a friend's house."

"Are you sure?"

Jeremy piped in. Connor tilted his head and made a dangerous face at Jeremy.

" 'Cause all the evidence we received is leading us to you."

Connor snarled at Jeremy's comment.

"Jer, let me handle this."

"Jesus. You wanna know what happened?"

"That's why you're here isn't it?"

I glared at Jeremy again. Usually he was good cop and I was bad cop, but something seemed so different.

"I was at work, about to get off. I got a text from my friend miguel asking if I could bring him a gun. I don't know why I didn't ask him what for, he never really seemed like the dangerous type with a gun, so I just went along with it. I asked him to venmo me the money back for the gun because he wasn't there to actually pay for it. I waited until the end of my shift, took the gun, put it in a bag, and drove to his place quickly."
