"I remember when we went bungee jumping!" Jisung exclaimed as he brought his hands down excitedly on the pillow Chan was holding.
They were currently shooting the next episode of Two Kids Room, and Jisung was over the moon to be shooting this one with his boyfriend and caregiver. It gave the two of them a chance to really delve deep into conversation, something they never got to do much with their busy schedule.
And Chan was such a great listener. Jisung loved to talk - loved to articulate how he was feeling through his words and body language, and Chan just loved to listen. He loved hearing how happy his baby was whenever he recalled memories from the past, watching how his face lit up with joy when he remembered something particularly special.
"Yeah," Chan chuckled, amused at Jisung's energy.
"When we went bungee jumping, I came down afterwards and I cried a lot," Jisung began to giggle, recalling the memory fondly in his head. Sure, it was terrifying and Jisung would never admit that maybe he peed his pants a little, but it was something he had never done before and was definitely memorable. "And then, the other groups of people were...making fun of me..."
Jisung's voice fizzled out as he slowly began to remember what had happened next. Chan noticed the sudden change in Jisung's tone and how his bright smile faded and was about to ask the camera crew to stop filming when Jisung continued.
"They were laughing and making fun of me a-and you were the only one who really calmed me down a-and when I hugged you, it felt like I was hugging my dad..." Jisung whimpered, tears filling his eyes as he looked up at Chan with that look of sadness and realisation that Jisung had when he slipped without wanting to.
"Can you cut the cameras, please?" Chan asked as politely as he could, at the same time wanting nothing more than to cuddle his baby back to his original bubbly state. "And could you give us a few minutes?"
Only the main staff members like their managers, choreographers and vocal trainers knew Jisung was a little. Members like the camera crew only knew Jisung suffered from anxiety disorder, and they thought Jisung was only beginning to have a panic attack, so of course they nodded their heads in respect and scurried out of the room, leaving Chan and Jisung alone.
"D-Daddy-" Jisung hiccuped, making grabby hands for the elder across the couch.
Chan leaned forward and picked Jisung up, sitting him on his lap and gently pressing the side of his face to his chest, stroking Jisung's hair softly.
"Shh, baby, Daddy's here," Chan whispered, kissing the crown of Jisung's head before resting his chin there. "You did so well that day, darling."
Jisung instinctively curled into Chan's chest, remembering how small physically he was the day they went bungee jumping and how securely he fit between Chan's arms. Obviously, Jisung had grown since then but so had Chan, bulking up everywhere and being able to make Jisung feel just as secure back then as he was now.
"D-Daddy-" Jisung sobbed, not being able to say anything else apart from his caregiver's nickname.
"I know baby, I know," Chan reassured, kissing Jisung's temple three times and stroking his arm.
As Jisung continued to sob and hiccup, Chan slowly rocked from side to side, rocking Jisung along with him, softly humming 'Insomnia' to try and help Jisung calm down. After a few minutes, it worked, and Jisung's breathing was back to normal, tears no longer spilling down his face. But he was still little and Chan knew he would be for a while.
"Let's go talk to the manager, Sungie," Chan urged, tone gentle. "I'll tell him what happened and ask him if we can reschedule our episode for another day, ok, bub?"
Jisung nodded, clinging to Chan's jumper as he stood up. While Chan was speaking to their manager, Jisung stood behind him, holding onto one of Chan's hands with both of his smaller ones behind the elder's back. He appreciated the way Chan would occasionally run his thumb over Jisung's during the conversation.
When they were finally free to go back to the dorm, Jisung whimpered and clung to Chan's arm like he was a lifeline, and Chan shushed him reassuringly.
"Oh, hey guys- you're back early," Felix greeted when he turned around after the match he was playing with Hyunjin had ended.
"Yeah," Chan replied. "Jisung got a little worked up during the shooting so we've rescheduled for next Tuesday."
Hyunjin turned around too, a sympathetic pout on his face as he looked at Jisung, hiding slightly behind Chan. "Poor baby."
"We're just gonna go lay down for a while if that's ok?" Chan asked, and Felix smiled brightly.
"Of course, hyung!" He exclaimed. "You can use Hyunjinnie's room since I'm pretty sure Binnie is in ours with Seungmin and Jeongin."
"Awesome, thanks guys," Chan smiled gratefully at them before turning to Jisung. "Come on, baby, let's go lie down."
Jisung nodded and let Chan lead him to Hyunjin's room, waving back shyly at the two boys on the floor when they waved at him. Chan pulled the duvet back and climbed in first, shuffling back until his back hit the wall and allowing Jisung lots of space to crawl in next to him.
"Good boy," Chan cooed when Jisung snuggled up to him, rubbing his back in slow circles. "I love you, baby."
