Chapter 40 Slade Returns

Note: you have been dating for about five and a half months now. You have been with the team for over a year now.

Rave's pov

I looked down at Y/N as she slept before turning back to the clock in my hands. 6pm, six more hours and this day would be over. Y/N had been up late last night watching movies once more and passed out when she came to speak to me around two hours ago.
  I leaned against my head board, one hand playing with Y/N's h/c locks as the other held onto the clock. A bang on the door made me turn my head, I could feel movement next to me.
  "Rave..?" Y/N yawned looking up at me "What was that noise?"
  "I'm not sure." I sighed placing the clock on my nightstand "Let's go figure it out."
  Y/N sat up and grabbed my hand before following me towards the door. It slid open showing an empty hallway, I looked down at her only earning a shrug. The two of us walked towards the living room when lights flickered on and the team yelled "Happy Birthday".
  "What the hell!" Y/N yelled clinging to my arm, she was finally fully awake "Whose birthday is it?"
  "Friend Rave's!" Bolt cheered "And yours friend Y/N since we are not aware of your date of birth."
"How did you know when my birthday was?" I growled, the room stayed silent "Answer me!"
"Well you remember how you were talking about how you didn't wanna be late for tomorrow last night?" Beast Girl started, I sighed nodding my head "Well we wanted to know what tomorrow was. So I did some researching and might of found a restricted file with your birthday on it."
  "We have been planning ever since!" Bolt smiled "We wanted the both of you to have a happy day of birth!"
  "And I baked my famous eight layer cake!" Cy popped in holding up a try stake high with the baked good "With three types of frosting."
"Umm thanks guys.." Y/N spoke, her eyes scanning me up and down, she could sense something was off "But I don't know if this was um the best idea.."
"We just wanted to celebrate." Robyn said walking over towards us "I hope that's okay-"
"No it's not." I said sternly as Y/N squeezed my hand "I appreciate what you are trying to do here. But I'm not interested."
  I slipped my hand out of Y/N's before turning my back towards my team. I needed to be alone, just til this day was over, even if it meant from her.
"But what about the ice of cream" Bolt questioned blocking my path "And the game involving pins and a donkey."
"We also have a piñata shaped like Beast Girl." Cy joined in holding up the green papered box "You know you wanna smash it."
"Guys.." Y/N started "Maybe you should just-"
"Come on Rave it's your birthday!" Beast Girl said from behind me "I know you don't like fun, but you could celebrate-"
"I said no!" I yelled
Streams tore apart as balloons popped, the cake splattering everywhere. I walked past my friends towards the exit hearing Y/N call my name. Once in the hall both her and Robyn stopped me.
  "Rave!" Y/N called from behind me "What's wrong?"
  "I just don't like parties.." I sighed keeping my back turned to them "That's all."
  "No it's more then that." Robyn spoke "We have a bond. I can tell there's more. You've been in my mind. Just let me in yours."
  "And I know you." Y/N muttered. She sounded hurt "Please Rave.."
"You two know me better then anyone else." I spoke clenching my fists "You know there are places in my mind you can't go, where no one should go. And if you knew anything about the day of my birth you would know there is nothing to celebrate. I want to be alone tonight Y/N, please.."
"Okay Rave.." She softly spoke as I started to walk "If that's what you want.."
  The clock stared back at me as it slowly ticked. Just a few more hours. I sighed closing my eyes and tried to meditate. It was peaceful at first til it was starting to become hard to Breathe. I wrapped my hands around my throat as my eyes shot opened. Fire filled the room as her voice spoke..
  "What you have concealed, you shall become. You have no other choice. Your destiny will be fulfilled." Her voice filled my mind "The portal shall be opened!"
"No!"
I fell onto my knees against my sheets as I tried to catch my breath. Knocks banged against my door moments later, slowly standing up I opened it to see two worried faces.
"Robyn and I heard you scream." Y/N said in panic "Are you okay?"
  The alarm cut me off before I could speak. I grabbed Y/N's hand as the three of us ran towards the living room. The others soon joined us as Robyn was given the location of the alarm.
"Who's the bad guy this time?" Cy asked once we walked into the building "Gizmo, Jinx, Overload?"
"The alarm stated an intruder." Bolt spoke
"No.." Y/N muttered, I followed her gaze "This can't be.. H-how?"
"How long has it been now?" Slade spoke turning to looked at us "I was starting to think I'd never see your smiling faces again."
  "Terry took you down!" Beast Girl yelled "Way down!"
  "Slade." Growled Robyn as she clenched her fists "You shouldn't of come back. But I'm ready for you."
  "That's sweet Robyn." Slade chuckled, her forehead showing the sign of Scath "But I'm not here for you."
  Fire left her hands and headed in my direction. Y/N ran in front of me creating a wall of blue flames and pushing Slade's into a nearby wall.
"Woah!" Cy yelled from beside me "Since when could Slade do that?"
"I'm not sure!" Robyn growled "But she won't be doing it for long! Titans go!"
  In a matter of minutes everyone besides Y/N was down. I slowly sat up as I watched her follow Slade through the gears. She jumped around dodging Slade's attacks and throwing her own back a her. They were almost evenly matched. Slade blasted a gear before kicking Y/N in the gut. I yelled watching at the she fell and the gear started to roll her way.
  "No!" I screamed "Stop!"
Magic filled the factory freezing everything. I slowly stood up as Slade's body unfroze.
  "You might be able to stop time." She chuckled "But you can't stop me, you can't stop any of it really. Did you really think blowing out the candles would make it go away." Slade spoke cornering me against a wall, her face close to mine. I growled as she continued "It will happen and there's nothing you can do to stop it."
  I clenched my jaw looking at her before phasing into the wall and out the other side. I flew til I spotted Y/N's body and landed next to her. I gently pressed my hands against her stomach unfreezing her, e/c eyes staring up at me in confusion. I swung my cloak around the two of us before flying out of the building and into town.
"Rave!" Y/N demanded "What is going on? Why is all of this happening?"
"I'm not sure.." I muttered turning away from her pleading eyes "When today came I just wanted it to stop. I got my wish."
"Rave!" She yelled in panic "Move!"
Y/N pushed me out of the way as a blast of fire headed my direction, hitting her. She growled telling me to go as Slade landed in front of the both of us.
"I'll be fine!" Y/N ordered "She wants you! Go now!"
Nodding my head with a growl I flew past the next building and turned. Explosions filled the air before I heard Y/N yell. I turned and headed back as Slade emerged from the flames.
"I have a message I intend to deliver." She spoke "Buildings will burn, flesh will turn to stone, and the sun shall never rise again!" Grabbing my upper arms I hissed in pain as the marks of Scath appeared where she touched "You can not escape your destiny!"
"I can try!" I yelled before crushing her between two rocks, I stood up and started to look around "Y/N! Y/N!"
  A piece of rubble fell over and I spotted her sitting up slowly. I ran over towards her wrapping my arm protectively around her waist before leading the two of us to the nearby church. I held her tightly in my arms as her eyes opened and closed slowly, her breathing starting to return normal.
"I never should of gotten any of you involved.." I whispered "I never should of gotten you involved. I knew this day would come and I'm sorry.."
The church doors were thrown open before a blast separated Y/N from me. I looked up meeting Slade's eye as she walked closer towards me. The farther I was away from this building the safer Y/N would be.
  I dodged the upcoming attacks as I pushed through the back door. Slade followed closely behind as I flew over and through the city, dodging my attacks. She tackled me onto of a nearby building grabbing my cloak and tearing it off.
  "What you have concealed." Slade spoke holding my arms "You shall become!"
  My clothing ripped as the marks of Scath littered my body, my surroundings changing from color to gray and red. Fire and destruction covered Jump City.
  "Look at the world!" Slade yelled "The world you will create! She is coming and you can not stop it! This was decided on the day of your birth. You're going to destroy the world.."
"No!"
Pain surged through my body before my sight went black. I slowly opened my eyes to see Y/N looking down at me, her forehead bleeding. Tears filled her eyes when they met mine before she pulled me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around her letting her cry against my chest, I just wanted to hold her. I wanted to keep her close til her last day..
