Chapter 45 My Friends Are My Family

Y/N's pov

  "R-Rave.." I spoke looking at the child version of him "It's me.. It's okay, I'm here to bring you back."
He stared into my eyes for a moment before turning and starting to run. I followed behind Rave as he jumped over rocks and crawled into a hole. I squeezed myself through and continued after him, he made it to a bridge.
  "Rave wait!" I called "I'm not going to hurt you!"
  He didn't stop and picked up his speed. I wrapped my fingers tighter around the cloak in my hand and followed after him as he reached the end of the bridge. He disappeared into a cave, walking inside I looked around. I spotted him curled up in a corner between two walls. I reached out only to be kicked in the shin. I rubbed my leg as Rave ran further away from me, his cloak now wrapped around him.
  He slipped and fell down one of the small cliffs allowing me to catch up. His big amethyst eyes looked at me in fear. It broke my heart to see him like this.
  "Rave it's me." I gently spoke, holding my hands up "Y/N. Remember?"
"I'm lost.."
"I know. But I found you." I knelt down stretching my arm out towards him "I can help Rave, but you have to trust me. Please."
  His amethyst eyes stared back at my e/c ones before reaching for my hand. I smiled down at him before standing up slowly. We walked in silence, over the bridge, past the church and towards the fork Slade and I had split from. I spotted the boat floating in the lava and squeezed Rave's hand as we walked closer towards it.
  Once on the other side of the lava ocean I helped him up and lifted Rave onto my back. His tiny arms wrapped tightly around my neck.
  "We still have a long way back." I sighed turning to look at him "How about a story?" He nodded his head before I started to scale the cliff "This is the story of Rave, he was not only my good friend but also my significant other. It was almost six months actually. Rave was a really brave person." I spoke slowly climbing, the rocks pinching the skin of my fingers and scratching my palms "Together we fought evil and beat monsters. The two of us hung out all the time, we were inseparable from crime fighting to reading books, he was always there for me.. He loved me. But even after everything good he had done Rave always felt like he was doing bad. It broke my heart to learn this, you see ever since he was young people have always told him he was meant for evil-"
  The sounds of rocks rumbling filled the air. I looked down as the lava below us split apart and the fire demons rose from it. Rocks from above started to crash down as they flew up. One caused me to lose my grip and slide down, hissing in pain I dug my fingers against the rock topping my fall causing Rave to slip off my back.
  "Rave!"
  Using my powers I boosted myself off the cliff and down towards him. I pulled Rave against my chest with one arm as the other shot fire pushing us towards a safe spot on a lower cliff. I sighed sliding to the stone floor as Rave crawled out of my arms.
"Y/N. Why are you doing this?"
"R-Rave.." I froze for a moment "You do remember, don't you?"
  "The story you were telling." He stared out at the view from the edge "I can see it, it's in pieces.. You, our friends, my mother.. like it was a dream, a nightmare. Nobody can stop her.. I remember that. You came down here for nothing."
  "No I came here for you." I spoke looking down at him "To bring you home.."
  "Why!" He yelled turning towards me "I can't help! My powers came from her and now that she's done with me I don't have them anymore. There was a prophecy and it came true Y/N." He fell to his knees, I followed him "And it's all over now."
  "No it's not! I refuse to believe that." I met his eyes "It's the end of the world so what? We are still here, still fighting, still with each other."
  "Y/N look at me!" He cried "There's nothing I can do! There isn't any hope.."
"I guess I'll just have to have enough hope for the both of us then." I smiled helping him up "This fight isn't over yet, not if we have each other."
Lifting him up onto my back once more I continued up the cliff. My fingers covered in dried blood, not noticing I had hurt them from trying to catch myself from earlier.
  The sounds of Beast Girl's yells could be heard as Rave and I arrived at the top of the stairs. I placed him down before looking to see the demons attacking my friends. I started to throw fire balls, destroying them.
  "Y/N!" Bolt cried when he turned around "You are the all right!"
  Rave stood by my leg holding it as the others ran towards me smiling. They all halted when they spotted Rave. He pulled away from me and hid behind a rock as I explained the situation to the others.
  "He doesn't have his powers?" Cy spoke "He really can't help us?"
"What about that ring of Azar? It can help us-" BG stopped when Bolt held up the remains of the ring "Oh."
  "This is it! One final attack." Robyn clenched her fist "Her or us, all or nothing."
"Rave this is your story." I smiled placing my hands on his shoulders "I don't know when but when the time is right you will know what to do."
The rock beside us was lifted up and Trigon stared down at my team and I. Her red eyes filled with amusement.
  "Look at the vermin hiding underneath my rocks." She smiled before attacking us, everyone besides Rave was stuck in a bubble. I screamed in pain a Trigon continued "Your world is mine. Your time has- agh!"
  Slade attacked from above cutting off one of Trigon's horns. This was enough of a distraction for her to drop us. Once back on the ground, Robyn ordered us to attack.
  I followed behind the others an attacked, Slade joining in. Bolt lifted me up as the two of us did a combo move. Trigon yelled when BG in her dinosaur form was thrown at her. Bolt placed me down and flew to Robyn, I started to attack from the ground. After what this demon did to my plant, my friends, my Rave, I was pissed.
  Slade threw the weapon she carried at Trigon's other horn as I attacked with the biggest fireball I could muster. Trigon turn to us yelling "Enough!" Before a red beam of magic started to hit everyone. I ran as fast as I could but tripped over a piece of concrete. Screaming in pain I could barely keep myself conscious.
  "No! Y/N!" I could hear a voice yell as tiny hands pushed my side "Please you have to keep fighting!"
  "I'm sorry R-Rave.." I cried, my eyes opening and closing slowly "It hurts.."
"Farewell.." I could hear Trigon say "Son."
The sound of her beam could be heard but it never hit Rave and I. Opening my eyes in pain I saw the shield of white magic around us.
"You may still reclaim some of my power but you are nothing! You're only role is to serve me!" Trigon yelled at him "How can a mere child kept to defeat their all powerful mother!"
"You may have created me." I watched from the ground as Rave transformed back to his normal self "But you were never my mother!" I forced myself to sit up at Rave started to attack "Mothers are supposed to protect! Mothers are supposed to raise you! Love you!" I watched him shoot a beam of magic that surrounded Trigon as I stood up limping over towards Robyn and the others "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, raised by my friends" He stood by us as the magic he gave us left our bodies and he floated in the air "They are my family this is my home and you are not welcomed here! Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos!"
A huge white Raven formed behind Rave and sucked Trigon in, her screams filling the air. The white magic spread around bringing our world back to its normal self. Rave lowered himself to the ground as we watched him in wonder.
"Rave that was"
"Unbelievable..."
"No it wasn't!" He smiled before running towards me and pulling me into his arms "Some believed!"
"Rave!" I cried holding him close, tears pricking my eyes "I love you too!"
He looked down at me, his eyes widening. I giggled at the blush covering his cheeks as he kissed my forehead then my lips. I craved the feeling kissing him deeper.
"Okay what the hell!" BG yelled causing us to break apart "The white robe and smiles are weird enough but kissing?Are you still you?"
"Blue is still my favorite color." He sighed pulling me closer "And don't get used to the smile cause you're still not funny."
I laughed as Rave pulled the two of us away from BG's hug attack. She fell to the ground with a groan of pain. Rave lifted me up in his arms before flying us towards the tower, the rest of the team close behind. He was finally back and I was able to tell him the four words I had been dying to say.
"Guys!" Cy yelled from BG's pterodactyl claws "Who wants French toast?"
