Chapter Twenty Three

They get to shift the next day.
Alexis spots Cruz standing at a memorial.
"Everything alright?" Alexis asked.
"This memorial is for my friend...best friend Brian. We would call him Otis." Cruz said.
"Mind telling me a few stories?" Alexis asked softly.
"Lets clock in before we're late and I'll tell you some." Cruz said.
Cruz and Alexis sit on her bunk.
"One time, Boden was battling in the "Battling of the Badges" and we couldn't watch it since the TV broke. So Otis had the bright idea of reporting it from the arena until we had to go to the call." Cruz said.
Alexis giggles.
"Now you tell me a story." Cruz said.
"My brother, James used to want to bring her superhero of a sister to show and tell." Alexis said.
"Superhero, huh." Cruz said.
"For some reason up until he died, he thought I was a superhero. So I think that's one of the reasons why I'm doing this right now. Since he can't be one himself." Alexis said.
Knowing that she didn't want sad eyes, they began telling different stories.
"I always wondered why there was a cane hanging on the wall." Alexis said.
Cruz smiles.
"You remind me of him and a paramedic who died Leslie Shay. When I see you and Severide together, I see him and Shay again." Cruz said.
"You really think I do?" Alexis asked.
"Yeah. You make him the type of happy we haven't seen him have since she died." Cruz said.
Alexis smiles.
"We're playing cards if you want to play." Kelly said.
"You are playing this time." Cruz said.
"Why?" Alexis whines.
"Because you are." Cruz said.
"Fine." Alexis said.
They start playing cards. 
Ambulance 61, person down for unknown causes.
"Isn't that a middle school?" Kelly asked.
"Yep." Alexis said running to 61.
They get to the school.
"What happened?" Alexis asked.
"They were playing basketball in gym and two kids collided. Sam hasn't moved." A kid explained.
They get to the gym.
"Don't move his neck." Brett said.
Alexis puts a c-collar on Sam.
"Are you injured?" Alexis asked as Brett sees if Sam is paralyzed.
"I can't..." Hunter began saying until he fell unconscious.
"What's his name?" Alexis asked
"I got this one." Brett said.
"Hunter." The gym teacher said.
"Hunter, can you hear me?" Brett asked as she massages his chest with her fist.
Hunter takes a big breath.
"Did you hit your head when you guys collided?" Brett asked.
"Yeah." Hunter said.
"61 to Main, I need another ambulance at my location." Brett said over the radio.
Soon they get to Med.
"What do I owe the pleasure?" Will asked.
Alexis hits the back of Will's head.
"I think you just gave me a concussion." Will said.
"Stop being a baby." Alexis said.
"I'm your favorite baby." Will said.
"And we are leaving." Alexis said.
They get back to the firehouse.
"You and Will?" Brett asked.
