It was a hot summer day, and we were lying under the shade of a tree. We were both sweating and exhausted. She was practically asleep from exhaustion. But I lay under that tree staring up at its leaves when all those memories came flooding back.

"Isn't it strange?"

"Hmm." She hummed, her head laying against my shoulder.

"Only a few years ago, I was sitting underneath a tree crying because I didn't think I could ever have this."

She opens her eyes and looks at me, a little sad like, but also a little curious.

"I think this is all I've ever wanted. To be here, with you, in this moment. This is perfect."

She smiled, and I felt like I was going to cry again due to the reality that she was all mine.

"It is perfect, isn't it?" She said, laying her head back down.

And it was.
