We were driving to one of her family events, neither of us really wanted to go. We were silent, except for the quiet music coming from the radio.

I was staring off into the world outside my window, watching as the houses flew by. I began to get the odd sense of Deja va, till suddenly, I realized that I recognized this place.

"This is where I used to live," I said, suddenly sitting up straight.

"Really?" She asked.

"Ya. My old house, it shouldn't too far from here."

"You want to check it out?"

I pondered the question, wondering if she was just joking around. "Can we?" I asked finally.

"Of course. What way?"

I began directing her down the roads, a strange sort of excitement washing over me.

We pulled onto the street, and all of my childhood memories came flooding back.

"The fourth house," I told her.

She pulled over, stopping in front of the house, turning the car off.

"Looks nice."

"Yeah," I said with a tone of reminiscence.

"So, you want to check it out?" She asked.

"What?"

"Do you think we'd be able to go inside?"

"No. whoever lives there now isn't going to let some random people into their house. Even if they did use to live there."

"I kind of want to try."

"Babe, come on. We don't have time anyway. Family gathering, remember?"

"Come on, it's worth a shot. Don't you want to check out you're old house."

"Of course-"

"Then let's go." She cut me off, jumping out of the car.

"Babe, wait." I struggled to get out of the car. She was already jumping up the steps to my old home.

"Come on." She waved to me.

I came to stand beside her, she took my hand into hers with a soft smile. We peered into the window as she knocked on the door. No one came. We knocked again.

"No one's home, let's just go."

She sighed in defeat. "I thought it would be cute to see where you used to live."

"It's not like they would have let us in anyway."

"It was worth a shot."

We walked back down the driveway hand in hand.

She looked down at her watch, "We probably going to be late for my family's thing."

I nodded as we jumped into her car. I gave one last look at my old home, thinking of all the memories it had held.
