"Do you want to do anything for New Year's?" I asked, staring at our calendar.

"Not particularly." I heard her reply.

I hummed, still staring at the calendar. "I think I work that day anyway."

I did work New Years. I worked till ten, which didn't exactly allow us to go to any of the parties we had been invited too. Not that she wanted to go to anyways.

"I'd much rather take a bath and curl up on the couch eating junk food and watching movies." She told me. "I don't see the big deal with staying up till midnight anyways."

I got slightly jealous of her having the day off, especially as I was driving home on the busy roads.

I came home only to find her asleep in our bed. I got ready for bed myself, completely exhausted.

"Happy New Year babe," I whispered in her ear, kissing her on the cheek.

She moaned as I lay down next to her, she pulled me closer, pulling my arm over her body.

She blinked her eyes open, glancing at the clock.

"Right on time." She said.

I followed her line of sight to the clock; it read 11:53.

We lay there, watching the time slowly click by. When it reached 11:59 we began our count down. As the clock changed to 12:00, she dragged me down for a kiss. Fireworks sounded form outside, but neither of us got up to see.

"Happy New Year." She smiled.

I couldn't think of a better way to start the New Year off as she rested her head against me, falling back to sleep.
