It was early in morning. The walk to school had been cold and without an extra jacket I had shivered all the way. I had work to get done, I had learned a long time ago that I couldn't get work done at home. So in the quiet of the school library I plucked away at my homework, happy to be in the warmth of the school. I sat near the windows outside where the sun shone brightly, warming me up even more. On occasion I'd look away from my screen to look outside or around the library. There weren't many other people there as it was rather early and the weekend. I spotted one woman, a stranger to me. She was pretty, and well I was captivated. I did not want her to catch me staring, so I continued on with my homework.
When next I looked up, she was walking away, all of her stuff in hand. I didn't think too much of it, but then something off caught my eye. The chair in which she had been sitting had a coat resting on it. She had forgotten her coat. I jumped up, grabbing the coat and racing after her out the library. My head swung around once I stepped outside, I had no clue which way she turned. Then I spotted her and raced after.
"Wait!" I called out as I ran after her. "Miss."
She was far ahead of me and oblivious. She reached the door and stopped, seemingly realizing that she did not have her coat on her.
"Miss, your coat." I ran over, stopping in front of her, breathing heavily. "You forgot your coat."
"Oh, thank you." She took it from my hand, I felt a blush. "How silly of me. I feel like I owe you."
"Nonsense."
She took off her bag, I offered to hold it well she put on her coat. After she did, I handed her the bag back.
She pulled out her phone from her coat pocket smiling. "Could have lost that." She looked up at me, I felt my heart quicken. "Perhaps your number."
I felt faint as she said it. With my mouth dry, I nodded and gave her my number.
"I'll text you." She smiled, giving a wave before she pushed out the door.
I stood there in a haze, not believing what just happened. Then suddenly, I realized that I left all my stuff unattended in the library. I rushed back and thankfully, it was all still there, untouched.
