KATE

"Gee, thanks Kate for the invitation," Kyle said sarcastically.

I only chuckled awkwardly.

"Sorry, boo, it's a girl's outing. I'll make sure to get you something though!" Amy said, giving Kyle a peck on the cheek.

"You girls have fun!" Kyle yelled behind us.

We all saluted him goodbye, laughing happily as we exited out the school doors.

"My car's over here," Corey said, taking my hand in hers.

"I thought we were going to take my car," Amy whined, almost so quietly that I barely heard her even though she was walking right beside me.

"No offense Amy, but your car's a piece of shit," Corey declared.

Amy sighed. "It is not! It just has a hard time starting sometimes. It just needs a little extra TLC."

Corey rolled her eyes. "What it needs is to be put into a junkyard."

Amy stared at her feet, staying silent.

I took her hand, making her glance at me shyly before looking back down at the ground. "I'm sure it's not that bad," I said, trying to cheer her up.

Amy smiled gratefully at me. "Thanks," she muttered.

We finally reached Corey's car, which was a white Jeep SUV.

"Who wants the shotgun?" Corey asked.

Amy sighed. "Kate should have it. This whole trip was her idea," Amy said, getting into the back.

I looked at Corey. "Well, guess I'm sitting in the front then," I said, hopping in.

Corey got in soon after me, tossing her bag in the bag next to Amy while I put mine down at my feet. "Any song recommendations?" Corey asked.

"I don't like the radio," Amy said quietly, crossing her legs and strapping on her seatbelt with a 'click'.

"Kate?" Corey asked, turning to me.

"Um, 'Jump' by Julia Michaels," I said, putting on my seatbelt as well.

"Okay," Corey said, finding the song.

She turned on her car, turning up the air-conditioner, before pressing play.

She pulled out of the school parking lot, biting her lip as she looked through the back window. "We are heading to the mall?" She asked.

I nodded. "Yeah, I wanna hit Hollister," I said, remembering that Axel had mentioned that he got his cologne from there.

"Okay, I love Hollister," Corey admitted, turning up the radio. "Dude, this song is fucking amazing."

I smiled. "I know, right?" I said.

"It's okay," Amy said, surprising me. She was so quiet I'd almost forgotten she was even here.

"So, if you don't listen to the radio, what do you listen to?" I asked her.

Amy looked up before looking back down at her phone. "Uh, Christian music mostly," she stated.

I nodded. "What group do you like?" I asked her.

"I like Third Day," she said, not looking up.

I nodded and took my phone out of my backpack once we turned into the parking lot of the mall.

"Yikes, this place is huge," Amy said softly, looking around.

"It sure is," Corey agreed.
