A/N - Kate's outfit^^

KATE

After breakfast, we all headed back upstairs with Max charging up the steps ahead of us, wagging his tail excitedly.

"Ugh, I don't wanna go home," Corey sighed, draping her arm around my shoulders.

I smiled. "You can always come back."

With a nod in response, she walked into my room to pack her things. I helped her, grabbing her bathing suit off of my shower and handing it to her.

"Gee, thanks, Kate," she said, tucking it into her bag.

Amy and Kyle appeared in the doorway, their bags slung over their shoulders.

"Corey, you ready to go yet? Your car is kinda blocking ours," Kyle sneered, tugging his bag up onto his shoulder further once it had started to slip.

"Yes, calm your tits, Kyle," Corey declared, zipping her own bag shut.

"Um, Kyle doesn't really have tits," Amy said softly.

"All dudes have tits, Amy, just not as we do," Corey said, slipping her bag up over her shoulders.

She shrugged and takes Kyle's hand, leaning her head against his shoulder.

"Alright bitch, come give me a hug goodbye," Corey declared, turning to me and extending her arms.

I walked up to her, hugging her lightly. She let out a light laugh and squeezed me harder against her. "You're a sucky hugger, Kate," she said.

I laughed and felt her arms release my small waist. "I'll see you in school tomorrow," she stated, waving to me and heading out the door.

Amy hugged me as well, much softer than Corey had, and I breathed in the scent of her fruity perfume. "See you soon," she whispered.

Kyle saluted me goodbye and wrapped his arm around Amy's waist before heading down the stairs. Eventually, all of their cars are gone and I glanced at Max, his eyes softening and his tail lightly wagging.

"Want to go on a walk?" I asked him, making him wag his tail harder and bark happily.

I grabbed a flowered crop top and jean shorts with a pair of flip flops and shut the door of my bathroom, the faint scent of Corey's expensive perfume still lingering in the air. I slipped out of my pajamas and into the outfit, before removing my hair from its messy bun and combing out the knots. Sticking the toothbrush into my mouth, I opened my bathroom door, Max still sitting there where he'd been before.

"You ready boy?" I asked him.

He stuck his tongue out and woofed as if to say "yes!"

I kissed his head and headed down the stairs, my flip flops and phone in my right hand, with Max heading down beside me.

"Hey, dad, I'm going to take Max for a walk, I'll be back soon," I told my father, grabbing Max's leash off the table.

He nodded back at me and I opened the front door, attaching the leash to Max's collar.

The soft breeze hit my face as I shut the door behind me. "Let's go, Max," I said, lightly tugging his leash.

He quickly peed on the front lawn before following behind me.

It felt weird, going down the streets on foot instead of in a car. I looked down at Max beside me, sniffing every blade of grass that he came across.

A few elderly women planting flowers waved hello to me and Max, a gesture I kindly returned. This neighborhood isn't so bad, I thought.

Max barked at a squirrel climbing up a tree, making me laugh. "You're such a strange dog, Max, you know that right?"

His ears perked up when I say his name, his tail wagging back and forth, strutting confidently, his nose pressed to the ground.

I wondered what it was like to be a dog sometimes, being totally oblivious to all the issues present in the world. The only issue that you'd have would be where you could take a shit and what person was knocking at the door. Man, I would've loved to be able to live like that.
