A/N - Kate's outfit^^

KATE
I rolled out of bed, the memories of the day before still fresh in my mind. I headed over to my dresser, pulling out my phone to text Axel.
KATE - Can't wait to c u today :)
I hit send then texted Corey.
KATE - Yo, what should I wear today? I got a date :)
Corey responded right away.
COREY - U have a date?! And u didn't tell me yesterday?! Omg, is it with that dude from work?!
KATE - Yea, his name's Axel.
COREY - Axel? That's so HOT!
COREY - Wear a crop top and those white shorts? U know, the ones with the lace on them. If u don't wanna wear a crop top then just wear one of the new shirts we got.
I put down my phone and opened the drawer where I kept all my shirts, putting on a pink cropped shirt that exposed the lower part of my stomach and the white shorts that Corey had recommended. Then, for shoes, I put on my tan boots.
"Wow, is that an outfit you got yesterday?" My father asked me, looking surprised.
I nodded. "Yeah, you like it?"
"You look beautiful," he said, giving me a peck on my forehead.
I blushed since my father had never been very affectionate. He never really needed to be anyway, I knew he loved me without him ever needing to show it. My mother was different though, she'd always hug me when I'd take the bus to school, or kiss me hello when I'd come back, and when she'd forget to, she'd feel bad. It was just how she was. It was one of the many ways my parents were different. It only made me wonder how, despite being so different, they managed to last as long as they did.
Before your mom cheated on him with his best friend, I thought to myself.
As if my father could read my mind, he cleared his throat. "It's almost the end of the month, Kate."
I sighed, knowing what he meant. Time to call my mom.
It was the agreement that we'd made in court. I'd have to call my mom at the end of every month to "check-in". I'd been dreading doing it, but it was the only way that the judge would've let me move in with my father.
"I know," I responded, swallowing the bitterness of my pill, "I'll call her tomorrow."
My father sighed. "Find it in your heart to forgive her, Kate. She made an awful mistake, but she's still your mother."
This surprised me. I'd thought that the only other person that hated her as much as I did, was my father. But here he was, putting his emotions aside and asking for me to forgive her.
Not knowing what to say, I only shrugged and grabbed my bag off the table, putting my glass into the sink and watching it fill up with water.
"She still loves you, you know," my father said behind me, his voice low like it got whenever he talked about her.
"I know," I replied, my voice coming out harsher than I'd intended. "Let's go," I said, brushing past him and heading out the door without looking back to see if he was following behind me or not.
