A/N - Kate's new makeup look^^

KATE
I met Corey in the bathroom by the stairs, pulling my new makeup bag out of my backpack.
"Don't go too crazy," I declared, forcing a smile, before putting down the toilet seat and sitting down on top of it.
"Oh, hush. I know what I'm doing," Corey said, bending forward and dabbing some foundation onto my cheeks.
We talked back and forth, about random things, when she finally hummed out her approval and closed the lid to the tube of lip gloss. "Okay, I'm done."
I sighed in relief. "Finally. You're lucky I had a free period."
Corey just zipped up my makeup bag. "And you're lucky I know what I'm doing when it comes to makeup, now get your ungrateful ass up and look in the mirror."
I put the bag into my backpack, zipping it closed, and opened the stall door, walking up to one of the mirrors.
"Wow," I said, speechless.
The girl looking back at me looked like a girl I'd never seen before. My skin was flawless, the foundation hiding every pimple I'd tried to get rid of. My eyes looked bigger, the eye shadow and mascara making them stand out more, and my lips were the perfect shade of pink.
Corey smiled, visibly proud of herself. "You look like a different person."
I nodded, still unable to look away at the reflection in the mirror that was hard to believe was mine.
The bell suddenly rang, signaling the end of first period.
"Well, I got art. I'll see you at lunch," Corey said, blowing me a kiss, leaving the bathroom door swinging behind her.
I stole one more glance at myself in the mirror before heading off to pre-calculus.

"Wow, Kate, you look, um, different," Kyle said.
I took out my notebook, brushing off his compliment with a shrug. "Have you picked a day yet?"
Kyle blinked, confused. "Huh?"
"For tutoring," I replied, opening up my notebook to a fresh page.
"Oh yeah," Kyle said, chuckling awkwardly. "Um, when are you free next?"
I scribbled the date at the top of the page, before looking up. "I should be free tomorrow."
Kyle nodded. "How about tomorrow after school? My place."
I nodded, trying not to act like I wasn't nervous about the thought of going to his house. It didn't matter that I didn't see him that way, he was still a boy.
"Yeah, that sounds fine," I said, writing down the notes. "Do you mind giving me a ride?" I asked him, remembering that my father couldn't because of his new job.
"No, not at all," Kyle replied, glancing at my notes before copying them.
"You know they're on the board, right?" I asked with a short laugh.
"Yeah, but this dude in front of me is blocking my view," Kyle said, shrugging.
"Just admit it, you need glasses," I teased, poking his arm with my pen playfully.
Kyle shook his head. "I will never."
"Because you don't want to or because it's true?" I asked, teasing him further.
"You've been hanging around Corey too much, you're getting nosey," Kyle stated, tugging my notebook over to his desk.
"Hey, I am not, and give me my notebook back," I demanded, a little too loudly.
The teacher cleared his throat and raised an eyebrow at me. I mouthed an 'I'm sorry' to him and he turned back around.
Kyle slid my notebook back onto my desk and I shot him a glare. He just shrugged and squinted up at the board before glancing back at my notebook.
"I don't need glasses my ass," I muttered.
He ignored me, but his lips spread apart in a small smile so I knew that he'd heard me.
