A/N - Kate's outfit^^

KATE

Axel dropped me off at my house around six-ish, kissing me goodnight. I wrapped my damp new dress around me before heading into my house, hearing the sound of my father's shower. I took my backpack off of the sofa where I'd left it and headed up the stairs to my bedroom. Once I was inside and I'd shut the door, I stripped out of my dress and bathing suit before hopping into the shower, washing away the salt from the ocean.

After finishing up my shower, I dried my hair off with a towel before stepping out, the cool air hitting my bare skin. I released a sigh as I draped my dress over the shower to dry and slipped into my pajamas, hopping into bed to read a chapter or two of 'Huckleberry Finn' before falling asleep.

I awoke to the sound of two children playing in their front yard across from my house. I glanced once more out my bedroom window, watching them, before heading to my dresser, picking out an outfit for school. I finally decided on a pink flowy top with white flowers on it that came up to just barely above my stomach and a pair of white shorts with brown sandals. Satisfied with my look, I walked into the bathroom, tossing my now-dry but still smelly dress into a hamper that my room had come with.

I brushed the knots from my hair before pulling it up into a messy ponytail and began brushing my teeth.

"Kate, do you want Starbucks?" My father asked me from inside the kitchen.

Not feeling the desire to yell from my room, I grabbed my backpack and phone before heading down the stairs. "Yes please," I answered.

My father turned around, surprised by my presence before he raised a pointed eyebrow at my outfit. "Don't you think that shirt's a little revealing, Kate?" He asked.

I sighed, pulling at the hem of my top, feeling shy and embarrassed. "One of my friends picked it out," I replied like that was going to make it any better.

He nodded before turning back to pour himself a cup of coffee. "It's okay, Kate," he said, surprising me. "It fits you well."

I glanced down at my partly-exposed stomach, seeing the outline of my abs beneath the fabric. The top of the shirt was slightly open, revealing the curve of my collarbone and the dip in my chest between my breasts. I knew that my father was right, it was way too revealing, but at the same time, it looked really good too.

"Thanks, dad," I said, coming up behind him to take out a glass cup from the cabinet above him.

"There isn't much left of the orange juice," he stated, opening the fridge to get orange juice before I got the chance.

He passed me the container, and I heard the last of the juice swish around at the bottom. I poured the last of the container's contents into my cup, knowing that it was only two sips at most, but it was enough for me to use to swallow my pill.

Tossing the empty orange juice container into the nearby garbage can, I place my glass in the sink, took my lunch out of the fridge, and swung my backpack onto my shoulders before heading out to the car, grabbing the key to unlock it.

My father came out not long after I'd left the house and started up the car before reversing out of the driveway.

"So, I forget what you said, do you want Starbucks?" He asked, turning up the song I'd just started playing.

"Yeah, thank you," I said, responding to Axel's text that he'd just sent me.

AXEL - U working today, beautiful?

KATE - Yea, that cool?

AXEL - Totally. See u then ;)

My father pulled into the Starbucks drive-thru, and I found myself feeling thankful that it was not at the one I worked at. I didn't know why, but I knew that I'd feel weird ordering from a place where I knew all of the workers. Or at least, most of them. I'd had yet to meet the ones that worked during school hours.

My father ordered for me, knowing what I wanted without me even needing to open my mouth to tell him. After saying, 'Thank you, you too,' to the lady behind the speaker, we pulled up to the next window, and I watched as my father handed the lady a crumpled up twenty dollar bill and she handed him my drink along with the change. "Here you go, enjoy," she said politely and my father smiled at her and watched as I took a sip. Once again, they'd done it just right.

After I gave him a thumbs-up, my father then drove off into the direction of my school.
