This note is about Kate's diabetes, so if you have any concerns regarding how a simple pill is helpful, you may read the note below, if not, then you may continue onto the next chapter.

For those who have stayed...

I'm sure you're probably a bit confused about Kate's condition. And yes, I'm aware that diabetics have to get shots and stuff and a simple pill is a little strange, but I'm here to give you a little insight on Kate's condition.

So, she has a condition called Type Two Diabetes, which can be helped, not cured, with a pill called Metformin. Metformin is an oral diabetes medicine that helps to control blood sugar levels.

Now, when I created Kate's character, I did a lot of research on this particular pill so that I could see if anything else needed to be included in the story regarding her condition, but I just found that, with the inclusion of this pill, diet and exercise was all that was necessary. Now, Kate's dieting is different since she's abandoned the idea of sugar altogether and she walks around enough, with Axel and at school, where I'm not involving her in anything other than those two things.

Now, I am also aware that Type Two Diabetes is a very serious issue and shouldn't be taken lightly. This is exactly why I did extensive research on the disease before creating this story.

Now, with that being said, Metformin is not a cure for Type Two Diabetes and only helps to make sure that Kate's body maintains normal blood sugar levels. The reason I chose for Kate to use this medication and not another type, is because it doesn't have many side effects and it puts little strain on the organs and it's also very affordable according to many of the sources I used.

Now, I hope this answers all of your questions and I hope you're enjoying the story! Mwah!
