To officially welcome the top 64 writers in Liriko, we will warm you up because 'tis the season for a story! We actually want to call it Operation: Puto Bumbong but for formality reasons . . . we call it The Christmas Special.

So how will this special round go down? Well first of all it is a non-elimination round, go ahead you can breathe a sigh of relief. This round is the warm-up before you go to training. This will show you how Liriko actually works para hindi na kayo mangangapa pa when the official rounds come. This will be your smorgasbord for the Liriko buffet.

Here are the mechanics:

1 This is a non-elimination round, no one will get eliminated or kicked out just yet. Though, a ranking per team will be posted come results day to know  kung gaano niyo na-impress ang respective coach niyo. Yes, this will be happening inside of teams.

2 Your respective coaches prepared a song for the team-- one song for the whole team. It was aligned with the season, and the round's theme, to help you plot your story easily. Changing/switching of songs is not permitted.

3 Just like last season, these songs must be creatively used in one's entry-- more creative, more impressive. Make it like the song given to you plays every time you read the story. Make it reflect in the story. The last thing the coaches want is to read a story of lyric after the lyric. They all know the songs by heart, so no need to remind them. Just make the message and theme of the song shine through your story but no matter what you do, do not lose the song.

4 The maximum number of words for this round is 1,500 words. Yes, it has to be short. Just a warm-up. Tone everything time for the meantime, wala pa naman tayo sa real battle. Remember what the purpose of this round. And just like the official rounds, there should be no emoticons, sound effects, [flashback], [please play the song on the side] or any of this kind of informalities. Informal writing is not prohibited here, but those kind of informalities are.

5 You can write it in pure English, pure Tagalog or even a combination of two, Taglish.

6 There has to be a title. You're in charge of the length but do not use the title of the song as your story's title.

7 Your respective coaches are more than happy if you will ask them questions-- make them clarify the theme, briefly explain the song, wonder why the blackboard is green. They can help you with this and that, but they never should give you a plot, a dialogue, or even a line from your story. You should think of these for yourself. The coaches are here for mentoring, not writing your entry.

8 All entries should be sent either in our e-mail ( official_liriko@yahoo.com ) or our FB page ( Liriko: A One-shot Writing Contest ). Your entries should not be sent in any other place. Entitle your document with your username and team name.

9 This special round with thread from December 14 to December 19 (11:59PM). Since this is a special round, there will be no extension of dates.

10 Have fun! This will be one hella good time :)
