Jin POV

"I'm sorry, did you just say..no?" I asked Y/n in disbelief.

"No. I'm not doing this." Y/n said and handed the folder back to me.

"Y/n, what are you doing?" Jimin asked pulling her to the side. "You wanted a scholarship and Mr.Kim was able to get one for us. I thought you would be happy."

"I'm not making a huge speech to the whole school about hard work and determination. No one is going to take me seriously. That's pretty much asking for an embarrassment." she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

"Hey, I have to make the salutatorian speech and if it means I'll get this scholarship and our chances of going to university are a lot better, I'm taking it." He gently grabbed Y/n on the the shoulders and made her look at him. "Don't you want us going together?"

Her eyes started filling with tears and before she cried, she inhaled sharply and sighed. "I'm sorry Jimin. I'll find another way."

"Why are you being like this?" Jimin raised his voice at Y/n. "For once can't you put your stupid pride to the side and just do this for me?! I've done everything for you and you can't do this one thing for me!"

"Look, I'm sorry!" Y/n yelled back. "There's so much more to this why I can't do this!"

"And what's that?" he asked.

Y/n opened her mouth like she was going to say something but she stopped herself and closed her eyes. "I can't tell you Jimin."

I think I know what Y/n is talking about. I watched the two of them as they continued talking.

"You...you can't tell me?" Jimin scoffed. "What kind of a best friend can't tell me what's going on in her mind? We're supposed to tell each other everything. Does that not matter?"

"Of course it matters! You just need to trust me on this one, please." she pleaded.

Jimin deeply sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He then looked at me. "Isn't there something you can do to convince her?"

"U-um," I stammered. "I think if there is something else for Y/n, I can definitely look for her. But," I paused and looked at Y/n. "This is your best option. There's not many scholarships I can think of off the top of my head that you would qualify for. So I think you need to suck it up and take this scholarship."

She glared at me and scoffed. "Suck it up? You make it seem like I'm being a baby about this."

"You are." Jimin and I said together.

Y/n groaned out. "Fine! I'll take it."

Jimin smiled and took Y/n is his arms and started jumping and down. "Yay!" Y/n laughed and told him to let go. Jimin cleared his throat. "Isn't there something you want to say to Mr.Kim?"

Y/n stood in front of me and we just stared at each other. There was no expression in both of our faces until she gave me a quick smile and mumbled. "Thanks."

"You can't be mumbling like that at graduation. You'll make even more of an embarrassment for yourself." I joked.

"That's it, I'm not doing it." Y/n quickly said and started to walk away.

Jimin grabbed her arm and yanked her back. "He's kidding!"

Y/n smiled sarcastically at me. "This is why I don't like you."

I smiled sarcastically back at her. "Same for me."

"Come on, Y/n" Jimin held her hand. "Let's go enjoy the rest of our lunch break. The others are waiting."
