chapter 28

~Theo~

I feel something vibrate under me. Shai's asleep with her head on my shoulder. Carefully I pull out my phone from under me and press answer, talking softly.

"Hello."

"Tobias! It's me Ruth!" She's crying and I can barely make out what she's saying.

"Ruth? What's wrong?" I ask soflty.

"My son! He's...He's dead!" She cries.

"What?!" I scream making Shai sit up startled by my outburst.

"Ruth where are you?" I ask concerned.

"I'm at the hospital. Please come to me!" She hangs up after saying this.

I'm too stunned to react for a few seconds I sit frozen. Shailene waves her hand in front of my face, bringing me back to reality. I get off the couch and run into upstairs to our room. I pull on the first clothes that my hands grab which happen to be a grey sweater and grey pants.

I grab my phone and rush down the stairs. Shailene is waiting for me at the foot of the stairs. He hair's in a bun and is holding a glass of water in one hand.

I lightly kiss her forehead and tell her "Ruth asked me to come ro the hospital. George won't be coming out of comma. Can you call Miles and tell him?"

With this I go out of the house, get into my car and drive to the hospital as fast as I dared to.

Did Theo just tell me that George is dead?!

So many questions are swimming in my mind but I manage to push them aside and dial Miles's number. He picks up on the last ring.

"Hi! Shailene!" He greets me cheerfully. From his tone and I can tell that he doesn't know about the death.

I muster up courage and start "Miles you need to go to you wife now!" I try my best to break the news slowly.

"What? What's wrong?" He asks panick rising in his voice.

I decided to tell him now. "George won't be coming out of comma!"

"What?! Tell me that you're lying!" He screams.

"I'm sorry Miles." Wirh this I hang up.

As soon as I toss the phone onto the counter, my whole body starts to shake and I slump down onto a stool and let the tears flow. No matter how much trouble he caused for my daughter or how much I hated him. He was still a young boy. The same age as mu daughter. For all I know this could've happened to Hermione instead of him.

After a few minutes, once I've calmed down. I go wash my face and put on my jacket. Then I drive to the hospital. At this hour of the day, the hospital's empty. There are Theo and Ruth's cars. Other than that just two more.

I go to the floor on which George's room is. When I get off the elevator the scene that meets me makes my breathing speed up and anger flares up inside me.

Theo and Ruth are there. Theo has his arms sround her and she has her face buried in his shirt. My anger starts to boil and I want to breath fire. Before I can do something reckless, I get back in the elevator and go back down.

Once I get in my car, I decide to wait this out.

I'm going to update tomorrow too!

I got today off from school so I was able to upload this :) yaay!
