Again, this is what we lack = Diversity.

Your MC is either American or lives in the United States (There's absolutely nothing wrong with the country.)
But the lack of imagination gets tiresome you know?

Why can't the MC be from somewhere else? There are many more fantastic nationalities.

-European

-Asian

-Latin

The list goes on!

If you're determined and do your research right, you can pull it off. Write about a French girl who travels the world and gets kidnapped by some weird guy, I don't know but you get what I mean.

Sitting alone at Starbucks, waiting for prince charming to walk in, capture your gaze with his oh so dreamy blue sky like--No--Ice like! Yes! His ice like eyes and swoop you off your feet is boring.

I'd rather read about a MC that isn't afraid of what anyone thinks and shoots her shot than that sickening paragraph above.
