I felt my own eyes watering so I tried to blink the tears away. I don't cry. "Terra, I love you," I whispered, leaning down and pressing my lips against her cheek. "I will always love you." I pulled back and took her good hand in mine, bringing that to my lips as well. "I can't live without you being on this earth. Even if you aren't with me. Please Baby Girl, we all need you here. You have to wake up." Her face scrunched up for a second, then her eyes fluttered a little. She opened them for just a second, and Denise and I both gasped. Terra's eyes looked unfocused as they darted around the room. She finally met my gaze, and a small smile crossed her beautiful face. "Love you," she sighed, then her eyes closed again, and her body went slack. "Oh my God," Denise said, holding Terra's hand tightly. I couldn't speak. I couldn't move. She said she loved me. Did she know it was me? My heart was hammering in my chest. "NURSE!" Denise yelled, then ran out of the room, almost barrelling over Justin in the process. "What the hell Neece?!" He asked, as she ran by him. She ignored him and kept going, so he ran over to Terra's bedside, next to me, after he placed the food and drinks he had on the counter. "What is it? What happened? Is she okay? WHAT HAPPENED?" he yelled, finally looking at me. I could see how frantic he was by his eyes. He really did care for her, probably loved her. Jealousy can just make you do stupid things, and act in very stupid ways. I knew that from experience. I was actually starting to feel bad for him a little. But only a little. "She woke up for a second," I answered him, keeping my voice level. I didn't know how much to tell him. This wasn't for me to do. Who knows if she was even actually talking to me? I didn't know if she was really in her right mind, if she even really saw me. "WHAT?! Terra!? T, baby, please talk to me. Wake up baby! I'm so so sorry, this is all my fault," he said, holding on to her hand tightly. I really did feel bad for him, especially since T just laid there, showing no signs of moving or waking up. Justin pulled her hand up, grasping it with both of his and bringing it to his forehead, as he pretty much buried his face in her hand. "I'm so sorry baby," he said again, his voice breaking. Fuck. I didn't like feeling sorry for him. Damn it. A few people ran into the room, nurses I guess, with Denise close behind. "I need you all to leave while I check and see how she is. Now," one lady in light blue scrubs said. I nodded, and followed Denise out of the room, with Justin behind me. We all leaned up against the wall, just waiting, not knowing what to do, or what to say. It was very awkward. "This means she's getting better right?" Justin asked, after a few minutes, looking at Denise. She shrugged. "I don't know. The same thing happened with my aunt a few years back. She got really sick, and fell into a coma. When she woke up, we all thought that things were great." She stopped talking, bit her lip, and turned her head away from us, but not before I saw a tear slide down her cheek. "So what happened?" Justin asked, not getting the hint. Denise shook her head and wiped her eyes, looking back to us with a fake smile on her face. "Nothing. She was fine." She caught my eye and looked away quickly. She was lying. I wasn't sure what had happened but her aunt wasn't fine. I didn't push though because I didn't want to hear the rest of the story either. I didn't even want to think that there was a chance that T wouldn't make it through this 100 percent herself. We stayed quiet for a while after that, just leaning against the wall. Eventually, we all sank down to the floor, one by one, still waiting. "What's taking so long?" Denise muttered staring at Terra's room door. As if they heard her, two of the people who I had thought were nurses, exited the room. The guy smiled at us, then walked on by, while the woman stopped in front of us and waited for us to stand. "Terra is fine, physically, but her body and her mind need time to heal from this. It was very traumatic. Her waking up could be a sign that she's getting closer to coming back to us, but it could also mean that she sinking deeper into it. We just don't know yet. There's no way to tell for sure until she wakes up. The best thing we can do for her right now, is make sure that she gets plenty of rest and quiet. I think it's best if everyone goes home for the day and let her body work on healing itself. You can come visit again tomorrow for a little while. Okay?" I had been mistaken. I could see her nametag now. 'Dr. Alexis Compton' it read. This was Terra's doctor. "Can we tell her goodbye?" I asked softly, sincerely hoping that she would let us. She met my gaze, and her eyes softened a little. She nodded her head, and stepped back away from the door. "You can each have a couple of minutes alone with her. Then you should go." "Thank you," we all answered quietly. She ducked her head back in the room door, and told the nurse that we would be saying goodbye. The nurse finished whatever is was she was doing and came out, smiling at us. "She's all yours. Don't worry. She's a fighter. I can tell," the older woman said. "I know she is," I answered. I didn't want to go first, so I held my arm out for Denise and Justin to choose. "I'll go," Denise replied, rolling her eyes. "You two behave while I'm in here. I mean it." I couldn't help but smile at how motherly she sounded. "We will," Justin replied, giving me a wry grin.
