"Cameron, we have a problem."

"What Linda?"

"She's awake, and she's throwing a fit."

"Just great...Who's the closest person we got?"

"Jokul is still a little more than a day out, you're actually the closest, you should go..."

"... Linda—"

8th December 3049

~Third person~

Cameron was currently walking through the halls in a mountain base they kept Shika in.

Keep her away from harm, meaning Hector, she had to be somewhere that technically didn't exist on the organisation's radars.

That brought her to the secret base in the No Man Mountains, a place that Cameron had left when he joined the organization. There was just one problem,

Shika couldn't see his face.

Ouch. Talk about painful.

"WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?!"

Yep, she was definitely awake, and with the way the lights were flickering closer to her door, the caretakers must've been having trouble.

He opened the door.

Yep. It was trouble alright.

Two caretakers were dazed on the floor of the room and another two were trying to get her to calm down and not shock people. A fifth one was holding a needle and trying to get it into her neck but she was having none of it.

She hated needles.

"LET ME GO!"

She had finally gotten the people off her, but when she looked at the door, she winced internally.

Cameron felt just as bad about seeing her as she did.

"Shika," he said voice even, "Please calm down..."

She didn't move, but just stared at Cameron as he ordered the caretakers to leave them. They were hesitant at first, mumbling something about a deranged girls being more dangerous than they looked. One glare from Shika sent them shuffling out a bit faster.

The moment they left, Cameron turned to face Shika properly, but was shocked by what he got instead.

Shika was always easy to read for him, because the walls she'd put up were designed to keep her friends out. They were designed to work against the strong points of her friends. Against them, not him.

But when he looked at her, the walls that she had up were strong and intimidating, especially for someone of her small physique. But the way her silver blue eyes turned steel grey made him think twice about his words. She had the same look as Jokul.

"This had better not be another one of your games." She said, face emotionless and eyes unwavering.

"No games. I promise."

"Where am I?" It came from her bluntly.

"You're in the No Man's Mountains undergoing the final stage of your transition. How are you feeling?"

Shika grunted a bit and slightly narrowed her eyes at Cameron.

"I'm feeling just fine." She huffed out.

Cameron hesitated, trying not to let the frustration show on his face as he looked at the silver eyed girl.

"That doesn't seem fine to me." He replied calmly and she shot her eyes up to look at him.

"I'm sorry," she gritted out, "I'm unsure on how to act around you when I realize you've been lying to me for the past nine months."

"I haven't been lying to you."

"Oh really?" Shika was patient enough to let him finish speaking, but that didn't mean her anger was dying down any quicker, "Please, by all means, explain to me how pretending that you didn't know Hector was after me wasn't lying. Explain how stalling every time I asked about myself wasn't adding onto the lie? Explain to me how not mentioning the truth about Harusas wasn't a lie?!"

She was shouting by now and the lights around them flickered. Cameron kept a cool face on, not letting the words she spat out get to him. But his act faltered when she dropped her head, voice becoming soft and vulnerable as she spoke.

"Explain telling me I was safe with you wasn't a lie..."

"Shika," he didn't dare touch her, she looked like she could crack any moment, "Please, understand.  If I could freely give all the answers you needed, I would. But I can't, I couldn't, so I didn't..."

She didn't look up at him, but kept her head down low, hair shadowing her face. When she spoke, it was low and a chunk full of venom was in the two words she spoke;

"Get out."

Cameron didn't show any emotion as he left the room, he wasn't going to allow it. On the way out, he bumped into Jokul. He didn't say anything except;

"Go, she needs you more than ever."

When Jokul entered the room, Shika was sitting upright, her knees slightly raised.

"I have a question..." She started dreamily, "But first, I remembered something..."

Jokul slowly moved himself next to the bed and sat in a chair that that was pulled out.

"Before the orphanage, before Mother Rachel, I had a mum and dad. They were taking me somewhere, they said it was the beginning of a new life... But there was a complication..." She breathed in deeply.

"But there was someone else there in that car that day... A boy... They said they were going to bring him back, but he didn't come back..."

Jokul had kept his eyes on hers the whole time she talked, the two pairs of silver blue eyes blank and without expression as they tried to tear any reaction from each other.

"Jokul," Shika whispered softly, "Why didn't you come back?"
