(and counting (。•̀ᴗ-)✧)I was already hearing people moving about, so I thought I was late.
Will I get in that much trouble? I thought to myself."Gettup Maggots! "
I heard people shuffling in line as the section commander walked through our ranks, so I did the same. I didn't expect myself to get out of bed that fast though.
"I said, GETTUP MAGGOTS!"
I shifted my eyes to see who he was talking to. It was a little ginger head, with long, curly hair and big blue eyes, she reached around my chest in height.
It wasn't meant to be funny, I'm sure. But she was so small, that she got tangled in the beddings.
When she finally got out, the section commander looked at her like he was about the shoot her dead on the spot.
"You're late little midget." he hissed, "And for that, you're gonna cry me a river."
He raised his hand, which balled into a fist, and began to bring it down. Little ginger head stiffened, expecting a huge blow, and then...
Beep.
That was the clock, it was now four. I looked at little ginger, who was seconds from being knocked out cold.
"Stop!" I said, when the commander's hand was mere millimeters from her face.
He turned his head, and I heard bones crack, like he was a stiffened metal machine, "Do you want to be next?" He hissed.
"N-No sir," I stuttered before finding my boldness tank, "With all due respect, she cannot be punished seeing as she got up a minute before 0400 hours and not a second more, therefore she does not need disciplinary actions."
The tent was silent, me and my big mouth. I thought to myself; I'm in trouble...
-Yeah. You and your big mouth-
I spent half my morning in the commander's tent, waiting for punishment from 'The Higher Order', so in the tent I waited. I played around with my locket for comfort.Ever since Cameron hinted it being a key four months ago, I'd tried to get it open with no success. What I did find however, was a few letters etched on the back of the locket. The ones that stuck in my mind the most being 384NX and Harusa.
Ever since then, I'd try to talk to him about it, but he sort of made himself nonexistent.
Typical.
"You got yourself into a pickle now..." Cameron's voice came first, before he actually appeared in the tent's flaps.
How did he always arrive after the trouble and not when I needed him.Again. Typical.
"I was only relaying what we were told the day before..." I said while looking away from him, feeling more embarrassed if anything. Why?
Asking myself the same question.
"But now 'cause of that, there's an uproar back at headquarters." he said with a smile.
I had really done it now, I thought that things were going to turn for the worse. But, instead they surprised me...
"How's your neck?" He asked me
It was a question I had gotten used to.
