~Third person~

"We need to go. Evacuate the barracks."

Linda and Jokul left with Katy and Ash to do just that. But how do you evacuate an empty barracks?

"There's no one here." Katy half whispered.

"Then where'd they go? That's over five hundred people just vanished." Asked Ash.

The Lieutenants looked just as confused as the subordinates felt. Apart from not being sure what to do, Katy had a sickening feeling in her gut. Something wasn't right.

Something beeped and Linda answered a small device. The others heard nothing, but the look on her face was enough to give them an idea.

"The mountains are under attack."

The No Man's Mountains were in sight, and so was the smoke rising from within them. They stopped about half a kilometre from the entrance, half hidden from possible attackers behind the dunes.

"Who'd ever want to attack the No Man's Mountains?" Ash asked aloud.

"Jokul, what do you see?"

He stared out towards the entrance, silent for a bit, "... The officers... And a hell lot of doomed."

That was all they needed before charging head first into the officers. Not killing them, but making sure they didn't get up anytime soon. Jokul was first to engage, grabbing two poor guys by the backs of their collars and flinging them into the crowd before them. It opened up a path and the girls charged in, blades drawn and at the ready. The commotion called on doomed of all kind in the area that advanced immediately.

Two roofclingers and a tank came straight for them. Linda pulled out her scythe and extended it to full before making a double roundhouse and taking out the small fries. Jokul jumped off the blade of her scythe and rammed a sparking fist straight through the the tank's head, smashing it completely. Ash and Katy were on the sides, stabbing and slicing at strays

"We need to prioritize helping the residents. Focusing on fighting will take too long." Jokul commanded and they all nodded.

Katy was the first to make it into the blood strewn halls, bodies of caretakers littered everywhere, scratched and bitten. Some sliced and shot. The struggle, hopelessness evident, the same she witnessed when their orphanage was attacked.

"Linda I don't think anyone's survived..." Ash broke the silence, but Linda pushed past, bloody scythe in hand. Jokul following closely behind, black blood splattered over his clothes.

"We're still going to look. Come on!"

Ash began to follow, trying to ignore the overwhelming stench of blood filling the air. She turned to check on Katy, only to see her running in the opposite direction.

"Katy?! Where're you going?!"

Katy was gone before she could give Ash an answer. She was about to follow when she heard her captain's deep voice call her over.

She found Jokul in a trashed and blood splattered room. Linda was on the floor with the old guy Rick. They were fussing over a body, trying to slow down bleeding coming from a worrying hole in their side.

Jokul looked behind her into the halls, gauntlets at the ready, "Where's Winterhold?"

"She disappeared..." Ash trailed off when she noticed the injured person very much resembled Mother Rachel. The sight almost made her choke on her own breath.

"Rick, are you and Darcy the only ones left?" Linda worked quickly, wrapping a wad of cloth round the wound.

"The others... Most should've made it to the tunnels leading out the mountains. The others went to stall for time."

"The tunnels. Are they close?" Jokul asked quickly.

Rick nodded as Linda finished up. Jokul picked up Darcy bridal style to and Linda took up her scythe and helped Rick up.

"Take us to the tunnels. Ash'll take up front while I cover the rear."

It was a short trip filled with one too many encounters. A few others met them at the entrance and took Darcy and Rick into their care.

Linda handed Rick a beacon, "Keep this on you, we'll find you later."

Once the tunnels were sealed tight, the three made their way back the way they came.

"We need to find Katy and catch up to the others." Ash half yelled over all the running, "Is there anyway we can get outta here and to the others faster?"

They rounded a corner and ended up in the courtyard. Doomed flanked the left side while Scouts and Spartans flanked the right. The three armed themselves, ready for whoever would strike first.

"I don't think they're going to let us go without a fight."

Linda adjusted her grip to her scythe, "This is going to get bloody."
